We all love to get free stuff. It's amazing that more and more people are drinking bottled water instead of tap water which is free. Tap water has been made sure to be potable before it is being distributed to homes and we even also pay that too although not as expensive as botlled one. What is in bottled water that people prefer to drink it nowadays?

Yes, I agree with you as what I hve said. But nowadays water has also been commercialized. Everything seems to be for sale. We should not wait for the time that even tap water will be too expensive to buy. Let's all take advantage that we can still use that resource instead of bottled ones. Oh, well life is a choice.

Tap water usually contains Chlorine, which is added to it to kill bacteria and germs. So it may have less germs but Chlorine is also not good for you.
Bottled water also has important minerals (I personally look for the contents of what I buy, I look for Calcium, Magnesium,Zinc mostly.
Bottled mineral water (flat in my case, not sparkling, personal preference) also tastes MUCH better I find. It may cost me a few bucks per 2 huge bottles (5 Liters each) but I think it's worth it every time.
In Vienna however they have one of the cleanest, healthiest tap water on the planet. I've tasted it a few times and it is indeed pretty good, if I lived there I would buy less mineral water in a bottle :)
Stay hydrated. Peace :D

true, Chlorine will never 'kill' you, but think a little:
- it's the stuff in pool water that irritates your eyes if you put too much
- it kills bacteria
- you drink it every single day for years and years - it will get quite a lot of Chlorine in your system
No, Tap water does NOT have the minerals that are found in bottled mineral water, as far as I know minerals are not good in tap water as they would deposit on the pipes over time, and so they are either removed or simply they're not there to begin with.
Bottled water comes from underground sources, that comes through rock and has high mineral content. Tap water comes from lakes, sweet water with minimal minerals.
Chlorine does nothing to minerals as far as I know, only to living germs / bacteria. But tap water has no minerals to begin with, maybe just some rust and junk from the pipe system :)

Yes, some tap water has chlorine in it but they it is controlled amount of chlorine enough to kill germs not to kill people. I am not sure if tap water has important minerals you found in the bottled water. Will the chlorine clean the so called minerals in the water? True, bottled water taste much better but tap can be tolerable. It is just a matter of getting used to it.

Hi hibiscus,
We buy bottled water because the water coming out of our tap tastes terrible. Half the time I can smell the Chlorine before you even taste it. Did you know that they put chlorine in your water to make it drinkable? I don't buy water. I filter it. But at least bottle water has a clean taste, that is to say no taste at all.

Hi Leenie,
I am aware that they do put chlorine in the water. The water we drink before came from the well and we even were taught how to put chlorine in it to make it more safer. It is rather smelly but safer so we have to do it. I am very sensetive to smeel but I am drinking tap water now, good thing I can't smell chlorine in it. Yes, bottled water don't really have that bad smell but not practical in my pocket.;-) Thanks for the comment.

We buy water by 5 gallons. We like to buy this stuff because we have found out that the tap water here that comes from the artesian well is not as safe as before for drinking. Sometimes when we run out of bottled water we just drink from the well but not all the time. More and more people are selling bottled water in our place so we can now easily access affordable bottled water.
