Well i just finished watching the entire series of lord of the ring
but i was most puzzled by the story that in the entire movie the ring didnt preformed any extra ordinary actions
and it was quite a lengthy thing to let the ring to travel from one part of the world to another with the horbits
the film makers put every species of mankind in the movie
and make the movie lenghtier this way
i know its the novel which defines the script of the movie
the plot of the movie was nice but the story never seems to ends

It's part of the appeal of that movie, it being detailed and thus lengthy. To be honest I liked the extended version of the trilogy much better, and bought myself a copy of them. I guess for a true fan like me, there was just not enough details in the movie, as I still prefer the book's story.

ya i agree
but sine i wasnt aware of the books , i wasnt totally convinced by the length of the movie, there were far more less details about the ring and therefore i wasnt impressed by the long duration of the entire series
has the ring concept been defined more clearly in the movie , it wud have been appropriate to increase the length
anyway thanks for the info

I don't mind that the movie was lengthy. It is actually one of my favorites movies ever. They did a great job at creating it,and I know for sure they all worked very hard at creating the movie.

It is well worth reading the books because you will then understand the power of the ring. That power is more obvious than in the film.
I was in New Zealand a few months back and drove around the areas where the film was made. The scenery is just fantastic and the residents were really nice - not an orc to be seen! haha

I have tried reading the three novels and they are complex and time consuming. I loved the movies however.
As noted by another person responding if everything from the novels was put into the movies the movies would have been even longer.
The novels upon which the movies were based are considered classic literature now and the movies were incredible in my opinion.

I have to say that I enjoyed all the movies in the Lord of the Ring's trilogy. I don't think they were too lengthy because there is so much detail in all of the movies. I also think that they needed to be this lengthy to give the required background to understand the story. The novels were also long, so I have to agree with your statement about the novel defining the length of the script.
I also have to say that I like long movies. If you do not like long movies, I would not advise watching any of the movies from the lord of the rings series.

my only point was that , they cud have shown some more details about the story of the ring instead of increasing the length this way
still the movie was great
really well done movie

compared to the novels the movie was short in fact I think the producers tried their best to "shorten" the movies.
The ring didn't do anything much and I think that was the goal of the fellowship if it were to have fallen into Sauron's hands and used then it would have been the end of middle earth.

ya i agree
but still the ring was shown less important than the characters who fought the power of rings
the white wizard seemed to have every answer but there was no specific reason was shown how he managed to possess so much powers in his kitty and how ring were not able to defeat him

Given the amount of detail in the books, I can understand why the movies were so long. There was a LOT of detail left out as it was (and a few unnecessary details put in). It wasn't perfect but they did a much better job of it than I expected. Yep it's long, but some things are just worth the time!
