Clip Coupons and Don't Use Them?

I was just wondering if other people do what I do. My favorite day of the week to read the news paper is on Sunday because I look forward to the coupon inserts. And every Sunday without fail I carefully cut out the ones I know I will use. But I don't use them. I either forget them or decide not to be bothered with them when I head out the door. Do you do this? If you use your coupons do you find that your grocery bill is much lower?

I don't use them because we have zero money and are living on pasta and bouillon. I do have a friends who has tons of coupons she cuts out all over her house and she remembers them sometimes but most often not. She doesn't use the internet I suggested, before going shopping make her list then go on-line there are tons of coupons on-line, double coupons as well, and then print out what she needs. Regards

I used to buy the paper and clip coupons but i rarely used them so I stopped. I would probably end up spending just as musc figuring in the cost of the paper. most of the products the coupons are for are products I dont use anyway.

You have a good point. We don't have a store like that in San Francisco that's easy to get to. Your the second one who mentioned pasta too. I wish I liked pasta a little better than I do.

I do that....I cut them out and put them in the cupboard, but then when I go to make my grocery list, I FORGET to go through my coupons. I keep saying that I need to come up with a better system.....When I do you my coupons, I sometimes save over $50 in 1 grocery shopping trip. I think alot of people forget to take their coupons with them. I again though need a better system. Shihtzumama

I look at the coupons in the Sunday paper, if my Mom gives them to me because she gets the paper and I do not. I cut the ones out that I think I would use and then forget about them clipped on a magnet clip to my fridge. They don't do much good there because usually when I make a stop at the store, it is spontaneous, so I don't have my coupons with me. I'm sure if I went to look at the coupons, they would be expired or close to it. I do need to be better with using coupons because it all adds up.

I do that. I've even gone to the trouble of printing off coupons on something I usually buy, then forget about it until it's expired. Coupons do save money if you're going to buy the product anyway, but often, the generic version is cheaper without a coupon than a brand name is with one.

I have not gone so far as to print them because of the amount of ink it would take and I know I would forget it anyway. At least I am saving on ink.

My wife does this all too often. We will be shopping and she'll hand me a coupon asking me to get the item. Only to find that the couppon has been expired. She cuts almost all coupons and she has a purse full of them with maybe 1/3 expired. We do see a great reduction when using coupons. We combine manufacturers and store coupons to get a better deal. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Half of mine are expired too and purging them is not something I have time for thats for sure. I did not realize that you could use 2 coupons on the same items. Thanks for that!

I don't get the Sunday paper, but I print coupons from the internet all the time, and I don't know how many I've had to throw away because they were expired...lol. I like to use them but I always forget to get them when I'm going to the store, then when I get there, I'm like, man, I had a coupon for that and I forgot it..haha. I think it helps to cut down on your grocery bill, and if you go to a store that doubles coupons, you can save even more.

I use coupons and yes when I remember to use them my grocery bill is alot lower than normal. I do clip my coupons and put them into an old baseball card binder that I didnt use for cards anymore and use the sleeves to contain my cards. Works out great so I can organize it alot better than normal!

I just throw mine in a shoe box. Perhaps if I organized them I'd remember to use them.

Oh my god, I am that person who will find something useful, a coupon, a study guide, and totally forget where I put it and search for in a week later. It's gone, a lesson: you have to respect the good things that come!

We save quite a bit of money using coupons! We spend about $250 at the grocery store every 6 weeks for our family of 4(this is basically all we spend... we stop 1 time inbetween shopping trips to pick up milk and fresh fruit, but never spend more than $15 or so on those visits). I bring my coupon folder with me and ONLY use the coupons if it makes the particular brand cheaper than the store brand. Example, if Daisy Sour Cream costs $1.68 and I have a coupon for .30 off, I will still buy the store brand if it's cheaper than $1.38.... I do this for every product we buy and always get the cheapest one. At the end of our shopping trip, I generally save between $5 and $20 with my coupons. The secret to saving with coupons is to only buy products you really use (don't buy them just b/c you have a coupon) and always look for the best deal (pass up the coupon item if you can get the store brand cheaper). I've also found it easier to use my coupons if we shop less often... we used to go to the store EVERY week and would spend about $100 or more... now we spend $250 every 6 weeks! (AND we eat out only once every few months) - That has cut our grocery bill by more than half just by cutting out the impulse buys (like bakery goodies/donuts, magazines, hot deli foods, snacks/candies/sodas, etc).
