There are a couple of writing goals I have for 2009. I hope to earn more from writing
1) Learn to write SEO articles or keyword articles.
2) Publish a book. (Actually write the book first!)
3) Erm.. Have not thought about it yet. I think the 2nd one is going to keep me occupied.
What about you? What are your writing goals for 2009? Share them here. Thank you for responding.

the first one is my life stories, the second is a novel about a women who has suffered much loss.
She also has a gift to be able to communicate with angels.
yes it is very hard to publish, you need to know that right now,
I finally went with a print on demand outfit.

That's wonderful that you have already written two books. This will be my first one if I ever get it published... What did you write about? Did you have any problems finding a publsiher? I must stop worrying about that and write that book now.

I was thinking of that arrangement too. Lulu? I don't know. I think I need a kick in the butt for procrastinating.

Wow, good goals. Like you, I would write more articles. I have already posted 20 more articles at Associated Content but I am still looking for venues on how to increase my readership there. I would also try to publish more at Triond. It is harder there as the articles need to be original. And at Helium, I have no stars right now so I have no upfront payments and this is because of concentrating so much on the writing contests. I think I would opt now for the marketplace and other titles. I am also in chapter 16 of my novel..(You start writing yours, you're a good writer!)hopefully, I could continue with 17. And I have an upcoming book from bloggers all over the world-Target publication is August. I am inviting you to be part of it. If you have any stories, the invitation is still open. You could also visit my site (http://gewgawwritings.blogspot.com) to know of the criteria. Thanks and good luck to you. Happy holidays.

20 articles at AC. Wow! That's a lot. I have not increased my collection of articles there though. BUt I managed to write my 100th article at Triond, an achievement nevertheless. No stars at Helium for me either, so not sure what to write there.
I'm not writing a novel though. I need to get an illustrator for my book. My hubby can draw but I know I would have to wait forever for that to happen.
Wait a minute! Am I reading it correctly? Are you asking me to write a part of your book? I'm so honoured. I will check your website for the criteria. But I have no success stories to tell. All the best, Jen! You are definitely progressing much faster than moi.

I thought of joining Entrecard recently after I have joined Today.com. I learnt about it from your discussions I think and was quite interested to try it out. Is there a referral system there? Maybe I can sign up under you.

1. Earn $1,000 from writing
2. Give three poetry features; one is already booked
3. Finish the Haven novel
4. Complete website
5. Send 4 manuscripts out
6. Apply for two grants
That list should be enough to keep me busy! Thank for making me think about it.

Yes, I write full-time. I'm also on benefits as I'm disabled. Being on benefits gives me the freedom to write full-time without bothering with a day job, which most writers need to do.

Wow! You have a lot in your hands. Are you doing this on a fulltime basis? How do you find the time? But the goals are very realistic and I hope you will be able to achieve them. I have added you as a friend. I could do with a little inspiration. Thank you for your response!

Well, I too have some writing goals this coming year.
First of all, I want to finish up my renovation articles.
Half of it is already done. You can read it here -- http://gnmrenovation.blogspot.com
Second, to finish up the articles I have on wedding. From how to propose to how to shop for a bridal package all the way to what to do on the actual day itself.
That should keep me occupied for a while.
At the same time, I hope to churn out one article on either managment or money/financial topics on, at the very least, a weekly basis.
Three writing goals. I sure hope I can get them going! :p

Hi Ah Gong,
You have very specific goals there.I think the more specific they are, the better you are at achieving them. My goals are rather vague, but I do hope that I can achieve them too. All the best to you and me!

I have a hard time setting goals and keeping them. I certainly hope to keep writing and making money from my writing. I would also like to get my first children's book finished (though it usually takes some time to get books published). I don't know how many goals or how hard my goals should be made because I am pregnant and we will be having a baby in June (on top of my highly active two year old!).
Good Luck with your goals though. Hopefully 2009 will prove to be a better year then 2008!

Congratulations! I know it is pretty hard with an active toddler at home. I have one too. She can't see me on the computer for two minutes. All the best! Hope that you are not getting all the nausea and all. Mine was so bad with my daughter.
I would love to write a children's book, but got no ideas for that right now. Will stick my current idea first and see if anything follows suit. It may be difficult so take it easy. Take care!

Great that you are thinking of starting that book. I'm thinking of it too. I just need to run through my piece, add some stuff and get an illustrator for the book. Then I can publish it.
As for your goal no 3, how much are your writing now? How much do you intend to write in 2009?

You're right. Make sure you get your priorities straight. Studies first, then job and any other thing is bonus.. All the best and write as much as you can. Cheers!

Well, I don't have a specific goal how much I want to write. I just want to keep writing and want to write as much as I can. I don't want to aim for anything, because I'm a student, and I'm going to work this summer. So studies and job is going to come first. But so long as I can try to make some time every week to write a bit, that's going to be great.

I am unable to make any goals this year. Reason is that I have son about to be three year old and my delivery is due in Jan. After a month or so, my mother will be leaving. Both these will keep me occupied , but I will try outmy best to focus into writing whenever possible.

Wow! Two children in tow and all alone to do everything. I guess it will be tough. But you know what, I think you will get the hang of it and find the time to do some writing on the side, I'm sure.
All the best with your delivery, hope everything goes well and smooth. My daughter is going to be two in Jan. Hehe...

Hi bam,
You have very realistic goals there. I admire your simple goals. Which review site do you participate, Ciao or Review Stream? You write articles too? I write for Triond mostly, but may be moving to AC or Helium soon to explore other avenues.

My main writing goal is to finish the next draft of my novel, and if possible get it ready for publishing. Also to allot more time for my writing and this is not to do with writing, but try to get that good printer I wanted, the one where I do not have to change the cartridges every week or when I finish printing out two pages.

My, my! People around me are writing a book, novel or something. So inspiring! I know what you mean about the printer. Mine is problematic too. And the in dries up very quickly. And I use it once and the meter says that my ink is down by half. What's with all these printers. Sometimes I need to proofread physically. Getting them printed out helps me to spot my mistakes better. But now I spell check online.
Go on and get that novel completed. By the way, how many have you written?

Simple goals! I love it. But I'm not going to write an ebook, just a normal book. Hopefully I will be able to complete and publish it next year.

With 2 part-time jobs. One during the week and one on weekends, just being able to keep going on Mylot until summer (substitute teaching will be done during the summer) is my goal. I don't want to forget the people who were there for me when I was looking for a job and all the friends I've made here.

I wish you much success with your goals. I have just been making some goals for the next 300 days, so I can achieve them by mid-October.
At Helium I want at least 300 articles - I have 135 now so it is achievable - and that will give me a better chance of five writing stars. I have three writing stars now, four is achievable and five is possible.
Generally I want to write more, to write better articles, and to write them faster, to sell more of my work, and to earn more money from writing. I know I shall do all of these, because I have made a good start this year.
I will keep posting on my two blogs, and at myLot of course, but I need to focus and expand my activities in the freelance writing market.

I wish you all the best too! You are one of those I admire here at myLot for your dedication in writing and sticking to your goals. I'm so lousy at goal achieving. Wow! You already have 3 stars at Helium. That's fantastic. Go ahead and earn more for 2009!

Hi, Sydney
here's mine (it's time to admit it, and I might as well admit it to you):
1. get out of this mental/emotional writer's block
2. finish up all those I have started that do have merit
3. write, write, write
Kudos!!!

Yup! Time to reveal it all.
Sometimes we need to force our brains to voice out our goals, so that we'd be more inspired to do them.
Hmmm.... writer's block. Mine is more of procrastination, rather then mental block. As for no 2, I think that is a great goal. I have abandoned so many articles half way. But sometimes I just need a fresh start and not be bothered by the past. I think I'm going to purge all those articles I have started but not finished. It just goes to show that I'm no longer interested about them any longer. I have one folder for all these, you believe me, and it's increasing every day. I have all these ideas and they go in there, but I never finish researching for them or writing them. So I think it's time to purge it out of my system. Start anew! For me, at least.
I like your third goal. That's exactly what I'm going to do too! Write, write and write! All the best! Let's all earn more money in 2009!

That's a fantastic goal, savmot! I know sometimes I just can't get myself to do that one thing I need to do. I go around to doing all others except for that one thing I need to complete. Other times, I can't concentrate on one writing piece when my brain has so many other things ot think about. Funny how our brain works.

Well, none of these goals are pertaining to writing. But anyway, all the best in getting that job, so that you could go on and complete goal no 2.
