Who is your choice for the best wicket keeper batsman in the world? When you talk about wicket keeper batsman right now M.S Dhoni comes to mind but i have to mention the Sri Lankan keeper Kumar Sangakarra and the Pakistani Kamran Ackmal i think they are all great. what about you?

Well Sheldon U missed the greatest name from your discussion... How can you miss the great Australian wicket keeper Adam Gilchrist or gilly as he was called. He is miles ahead of MSD or Sangakarra and excuse me kamal Ackmal what has he done. MSD and Akmal are very new to international cricket but Adam glichrist has played game over 10 years and in these 10 years he broke all records ...in one day or test matches.. Shane warne was a great bowler but for a spinner to reach such heights he needs someone behind the stumps and he cud be sucha gr8 one because gilly was behind.. to prove the point i give u example of Anil Kumble.. Chk his record after Nayan Mongia retired from cricket and chk his record when he was keeper...
May be ur asking about those who are still playing international cricket but adam retired only this season..well other all time gr8 keepers which come to mind who could bat too are
1. Farrok Engineer ( india)
2. Alan Knot ( england)
3. Sayyad Kirmani( india)
4. mark Boucher ( SA)
these are to name a few

I am in full agrement with you that Kumar Sangakarra is the best but for Mark Boucher i disagree. Why I know he hits the ball hard bats fast but i dont rate him as one of the best, for me Ackmal over him maybe am being bias but thats just my views.

Now Sheldon since Ian Healy left cricket I have not seen another good wicket keeper. Sangakarra and dhoni are good in their ways but they don't make the batsmen take risk. With Ian you have to be on your toes. Ian appeal for everything and this make the game quiet interesting. Sometimes he even pick up the ball and say he caught it but that makes the game lively especially when it becomes to be a bored.
Since Ian I have not seen another wicketkeeper so I am still looking for that one. No other has bring the energy that I am accustomed to.

i think we have the batch of some of the best wicket keeper batsmen. you missed one big name South Africa's Boucher he is the most reliable in the lot for now. I am a Indian and i still think Dhoni can improve on his work with glove he has improved from what he had when he came to international cricket and i hope one day he will became the best "wicket keeper, batsmen captain ever'.
