Difference between "To Love" and "To fall in Love"

"To love" can be applied to anyone - friends, family, your pet . "In love" is more the romantic kind of love you'd share with a partner. I think it's not only possible but necessary to share both kinds of love with your significant other. My mom works for the Hospice here and she and her friends often make comments about their patients and their spouses celebrating their 60th or 65th wedding anniversaries and still being "in love." Of course they love each other or they wouldn't still be married but to still be "in love" is like saying they still act like they did when they were young and everything (in their relationship) was new and exciting. That's not easy to achieve.

To love and failing in love is not the same, you can only claim you love someone when you have prove to be completely dedicated to the person while you can just fall in love with someone without understanding the reason why you feel the way you feel.

This topic seems interesting to me at first glance, but through reading it more than once, I feel "To Love" and "To fall in love" have nothing to compare with each other. The object for both of items is totally different. Talking about To Love, You can love another, like your parents, your friend, you family, and your child. But turn to To Fall in Love, only one you could have that feeling is to your lover such as you girlfriend or boyfriend, your wife or your husband at some period. Of course, the affection is as well. For the "To Love" group, you want to spend more time with them, celebrate memorized thing with them... For the "To Fall in Love", more means you want spend the rest life with them, you want always keep eye on them. This feeling only can be put on exclusive one. No one could break in and disturb it. That's just my thought.
