I think their a personal choice. I personally wouldn't have them...I have my ears pierced and that was bad enough. I'm terrified of needles so having anything else pierced is probably not going to happen.
I do think that if your going to have piercings you need to be adult enough to take care of them and keep them clean so you don't end up with infections. I also think that if you work in a public position where your dealing with the public all day then you need to consider removing them or wearing clear ball types so that it looks more professional. They are attention getters so it's normal for ppl to ask about them especially when you have alot of them.

I've had people ask me that question also "Does that hurt?" and I say " Having the piercing done doesn't hurt but the healing part does".. Some people are just curious. You do get tired of it though. I don't hardly wear my body jewelry as much as I use because I forget to put them in half of the time..LOL .. I don't think people should judge people who have facial piercings because it's really no big deal and it's petty to judge somebody so unfairly for wearing facial or any type of body jewelry because they would of never known that person was pierced if that pierced individual decided not to wear their body jewelry that day.

I don't have any...yet. But think they kickass. If I were you, I wouldn't care what people think. Screw'em....be yourself. If they stare, just ask "do I have somethin on my face?" LMAO People don't care for the way I look either....oh well. ;)

Well, I personally believe that there's nothing wrong with piercings of any kind, facial or otherwise.
However, you must consider the reality that the very first thing we are able to evaluate about a person, is how they look. It is human nature to draw a conclusion or a first impression of someone that we have never met before. Their looks, their clothing, their body language, the tone of their voice and perhaps even the words they choose, all combine to help us create an instant "snapshot" if you will, of this new unknown person.
First impressions are not bad, in fact our impressions of a person continually change as we interact more and more with the person and get to know them better.
So considering that out looks, are one of the ways in which people first categorize us. It is important that we are aware of the image that we project to others.
Sadly, everyone has different experiences so things have different meanings for different people. For instance, not that long ago, tatoos were not as common as they are day. In fact, tatoos were usually reserved for those on the fringe of society. The bikers, the gangs and the outlaws of society; some tattoos were used as status symbols, and used a a banner to others to say "I'm a tough guy." As well as to brag to others of your status in prison etc.
Certainly, our perception of tatoos has changed and I think our perception of piercings is moving towards the same direction. Perhaps, one day piercings will be as accepted as other forms of personal expression are.
This is a good question and a good topic for discussion. I see you are relatively new to Mylot, so welcome and happy posting!
