I do have seen that radio is mostly not seen much in this generation. But during my school days I could see this once in most of houses and it was like a mobile phone during that time. A portable one with many types as the mobile phones are now. Still in our home my mother even now listen to radio and I used hear it from my childhood days. Still I hope we do get radio programmes through our mobile phones or the inventions of television and internet has surely been a thread to this old one. But at present I could notice that most people listen to radio while they travel in their care. That are channels with full time music and songs and some comedies. Hence I feel there are people who cannot leave radio totally. May be even now I hope many Jawan or the soldiers do use it when they get isolated from other in their camp stations. May be radio with the life cycle path of television then to computer to internet. As life cycle of human from the monkey I hope present technology is an advanced version from radio. Hence I feel radio has it own useful for me even now. I use the radio in my mobile phone most often to listen to news and live matches especially. Still as it is know old is gold it still has it own charm.

Your perfect proverb, "Old Is Gold It Still Has It Own Charm", SHAMRACK. I'm speechless a while on reading your nice synecdoche explaining the chronology fact of radio. The only thing is the transition period in radio innovation materialized in the form of e-digital-radio but no matter how far it goes, it is still called as a RADIO. Its usefulness will never change forever. Good Luck, SHAMRACK.

There are times when I still listen to the radio. I only listen to my ipod when I am at work or cleaning my bedroom and want music I don't have cd's too. I listen to the radio in the car and sometimes when I am in my room, and there are some radio stations on the internet that i tend to listen to.

My radio inside the house doesn't work, but I often listen to the radio in the car. I also like to listen to internet radio, there is so much to choose from and it is a great way to get to know music from around the world. When I was younger I spent more time listening to radio than I do now. Every Sunday I would listen to my favourite radio programme, it was a tradition that lasted for years, because I loved that programme.

Well of course I listen to radio. It's a big part of my life. I only listen to online radio stations like burnout media because they have a lot of good talk shows. Radio is still popular these days. You'd be surprised.

Hi Shamrack,
Yes I agree radio is a part of our life. I remember in my childhood, radio was the only option to know about the world and slowly Television got attraction and importance of radio gets reduced. Earlier radio was used for news, songs, dramas, etc. Now Radio is used mainly for listening music. In my native home still they are listening radio for music. Now phone-in-programs are available in radio also. FM radio is available for mobile phones. I think the radio is also added some interested program according the attitude of the people. So it can still be in the minds of people.

my friends and relatives call me "mr. radioactive". i never seem to have a day without having to listen to radio. i listen to it while traveling, sleeping and sometime even while reading.
i consider it as one of my primary connections to the outside world. it keeps me updated on the news and latest in music.
i typically just use the radio function on my mobile so whenever someone gives me call, i wouldn't miss it as well. when in front of my computer, i would use the internet for my radio listening.

I listen to the radio very often in the van service or on long car trips. More often than not however, I listen to audio books. I got on that kick when I couldn't have cable for awhile due to money concerns. It kind of reminded me of being a little kid, having someone read aloud to me which I love. But in answer to your question, yes, I do listen to radio. Especially at this time of year when they play Christmas carols. I'm sure I'll be listening to it all the way home to Pennsylvania. If I can ever get there.

Yes, I still do. I wake up to a radio with an alarm, and often just set it to my favorite station - gospel. For about at least an hour a day, I get to listen to the messages before my day starts. And if I spend more time in the bedroom, I often have the radio on (when I'm not asleep, of course).

I can not stand main stream radio. For every flavor of the month piece of crap band you hear on the radio there are 10 more on the underground scene working harder and sounding better. Todays radio scene is intended for weak music that will be out of sight next year.
