In first period Fergie's era at manu.. they have bryan robson who became manu "General Midfielder" (GM ).
GM is player who lead the team. he became supplier ball to the strikers, how to arrange attack, how to improve the team performance, and how to arrange time playing when they fast attack when they defend strong.
after brian robson, man u have Roy Keane, who lead man-u win several priemer league cups and the amazingly year in man-u 1999 when they got treble winners.
After "King Keane" they not yet have a good player now to become "The New GM" for man u. Not even Scholes, Owen H and Carrick now... because they have many players who become new gm in every game they did.
Who the next GM.. you think????

It is hard to determine the new GM for ManU like Robson and Keano. I reckon that the next best replacement for GM in the current ManU squad is probably Anderson. He worked tirelessly, hard tackle and good passer. But he is lacking of goals in his belt. Robson and Keano are known with their crucial goals and performance. Anderson have yet to show this kind of form. I know he can do it. So far, the best performance from Anderson I think is last year against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Even though the match ended 2-2, Anderson outplayed Fabregas in the midfield through crucial tackles and passing. Arsenal was lucky to escape with a draw. However, he still young and have ample time to grow. I hope he will be the next GM for ManU and stayed for a long time even after the post Ferguson era.

I have to disagree. Anderson and M. Carrick don't have that charisma like R.Keane had! Even though Keane wasn't good technical player he was a leader of ManU. I can't see anybody from that squad as a leader (comparing to Keane). Rio is the closest one of today's squad but the question was about mid-fielders so...
