Here is something you may want to try... Microsoft has a program called Virtual PC. It is FREE to download from the Microsoft website. What Virtual PC does is basically allow you to install and use other operatins systems on your machine. I have Virtual PC installed on my Windows Vista PC. I had to purchase a copy of Windows XP, but it is relatively cheap these days. So after you install Virtual PC and run it, you install Windows XP into Virtual PC. Run that and presto! You have a full functioning computer with 2 operating systems-- Vista and Windows XP. Virtual PC is a great piece of software to have, and since it is free, you can't go wrong. Plus, you can run both Windows XP and Vista AT THE SAME TIME. I strongly suggest this method, as I have BOTH Vista and Windows XP running one one computer. Good luck and happy computing. Good luck to you!!!!

I am afraid we cannot but we can install XP or older version of XP on another diskspace. You can manage and deal with it in the harddisk management.

I think its not possible to install window XP over vista , ye you can do one thing is that , you can install vista on other drive means if you have vista on c drive then you can install XP on other drive like d or e it would not effect you system and at the starting time you will get two option of OS and which ever you will select that os would be run currently

Yeah dude you can install windows xp having vista also..this is can be done by a bootable windows xp disc which will guide through the rest of the setup and you will be able to have both the operating systems and i think that xp service pack three would be the most compatible one,so before installing just update your xp bootable disc with the service pack and then install it....happy mylotting..

The only secure way to do this is by changing the BIOS in the BOOTING SETTING to BOOT from the CD-Rom Drive within the PC. 1. Place your Wind XP (ORIGINAL)disk in the drive. 2. Turn off the PC. 3. Turn it on again and it should boot from the XP disk you placed in the drive. 4. Here Wind XP will ask you if you want to install. repair or add anything to your system, it may also start right away to prepare to install Win XP on your hard-disk. 5. Once you start to follow its instruction, it might tell you that you already have an OS installation (the Vista) and whether you want to install Win XP. 6. Keep telling it that you want to install the XP and this will then tell you that you need to format the drive and that all your data will be canceled. 7. Accept, and it will start the process of formatting and installing Win XP. Although I cannot guarantee that this can also happen on a laptop, depending if the Manufacturer allows you to do it. Some do not. They have their own Win Vista embedded. Good Luck.

There was an article that was done in PC Magazine some time in this last year about that. It basically said that you had to trick your PC into thinking that it was the Vista that you were downloading. I'm getting a new PC for CHristams and it has Vista. I've seen it, not pleased with how it ran, and I've heard too much about it to even want it. I need to look that article up and figure out if I even want to attempt it. I'm not an IT specialist....I just know how to turn on the PC...lol DCMerkle

I have never done this but I guess this is like a downgrade from vista to xp! I take it you are unhappy with vista, don't worry, a lot of people are! I don't even know if you can have what's called a dual boot, this is where you have both xp and vista installed on the same system. If you have enough hard drive space then you can perhaps have both operating systems installed although I'm uncertain as I haven't faced this situation before. Good luck. Andrew

hello there friend... well, you can definitely install windows xp over windows vista... but this process is a bit tricky so you have to learn the process and understand it before you install the OS if not, your system will be corrupted and also your important will be lost... so be careful and read each steps... if you understand it fully, then you have no problem of installing windows xp over vista... i'll suggest you to install windows xp then windows vista because this is much easier than installing windows vista then windows xp... either way, both OS's will work perfectly... the process and the steps are too long and also you will need to download some extra tools also so i give you the link and you check it out yourself... this link is very useful for your situation http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/install-windows-xp-on-your-pre-installed-windows-vista-computer/ ... this step by step guide sure will work for you... all the best...

you should definitely install windows xp instead of windows vista because vista does not support application such as ms office that could be very much helpful to you bit xp do supports it..so my advice is xp rather than vista
