The Day The Earth Stood Still is ok except the ending. Keannu Reeves wasn't as firm as i thought when a simple show of love between mother and son made him changed his mind and i thought everything was going to fall into place because nobody can stop it when it has begun according to Keannu himself. My friend told me that the original movie back in 1951 still featured the robot but it's smaller than the 2008 released. It could have been better if it ended in a way where everything will start from scratch as to what the aliens envisioned.

To be Honest it was interesting to an extent, but it certainly wasnt the best movie Ive seen from 2008, probably nearere the bottom.

Not truly special is the operative word. Yes, the day the earth stood still didn't seem to capture its audience like the trailers and promos was trying to say. It's a blockbuster none the less, but only overseas.
It's a slow paced story. I really didn't like the story telling they used. Maybe they tried so hard to make it similar to the first movie?
Even so, I still like Keanu Reeves even though this film earned him a lot of criticisms yet again. I still keep this blog, http://thekeanureeves.blogspot.com for him.

It was utter rubbish. No message, no depth, vague and wandering with nothing to say. The original was a million times better and much more effective at changing the way people think about humans on Earth. I was terribly disappointed, as I was hoping for a really effective retelling.

I enjoyed the movie on a number of levels I guess, but the premise of it all was silly really. An advanced alien race comes to earth to wipe out mankind due to our abuse of the planet, yet a woman is able to convince them that we deserve a second chance??? The special effects and all were just fine, but the storyline aspect I have just shared was a bit too ridiculous for my liking! These environmental message movies tend to get a bit repetitive after a while. At least Steven Seagal wasn't in this one!
