I just got asked again today if English was my first language. I didn't take offense to the asker, and I hope by starting this discussion I won't embarrass the asker either. As it is I also won't disclose the name of the asker either. This is a genuine question though as I know sometimes the way I convey things here can be quite confusing. So, if you are a regular answerer of my questions, Do I confuse the heck outta you? If Your not, is this confusing now? Have you ever felt confused by what someone has typed on here? Have you ever been asked if your native language was your first language? Let me say, sorry if I confuse ya, I don't mean to! Again I don't mean to upset anyone, just a genuine question! Happy Holidays to All! Happy Mylotting!

No confusion here at all. With the way you choose words it sounds like you are a southern female. Being one myself I understand your slang perfectly.

Hi SomeCowgirl, cute avatar! Merry Christmas to you and your beloved! You didn't....You explain and even elaborate most of your post but I know there are post in the past where I didn't answer correctly and it was not because you're not clear about it but it was just answering without focus, like this time, I am watching series and tried also to type..SO, most of the time, my attention is divided, I know this is not ideal but I am just trying to multi task! LOL! ENjoy!

I sometimes do the same, so no worries there. I am sure a lot of people here do as well. I appreciate the response.

I haven't followed all your discussions or responses...so can't say if you confuse people....but you certainly didn't confuse me with this post. But it does happen even with people whose first language is English....they are either pre-occupied...or busy explaining the situation that they don't realize that it is confusing to the peoplr who read it. I can understand that. My first language isn't English and I sometimes do confuse others when I post...and have to explain myself again.

hi, SomeCowgirl i think i have responded to some of your discussions -- mainly because i understood them perfectly. nope, you do not confuse me. i have not been asked about what my first language is. but i have to admit i have committed a lot of grammatical errors in my posts. this is because i am too lazy to preview my discussions or my responses. when i see my errors, i am embarrassed. makes me cringe. i think my most unpleasant was my discussion entitled "do you celebraTED your birthday in the office?" i have not come up with the nerve to answer those who responded yet. gosh. have a nice day!

I am sure most see it as a typo, I've seen that discussion and that's what I thought. I'm glad that I don't confuse you though! Have a nice day yourself!

LOL....it is apparent that you type just the way you talk, so english is obviously your first language. Sometimes it takes a second read through your discusion to clarify a point, but you are not as confusing as some posters I have read.

Well I wouldn't say all of it is the way I talk, but I get what your saying. Glad you still understood me, I know sometimes I have to read over my own twice and think "why did I say it like that?" lol, I'm always up to clarification when that happens though! Have a wonderful day to ya!

I think maybe i do the same sometimes, I think in my case sometimes I am not good at expressing myself in words so maybe you are as well, using the the word "heck" tells me English is your first language but i think your discussion here is clear.....

I know that I have a hard time expressing myself in words as well! Yes, "Heck" I guess is a english slang word. lol. I'm glad my discussion here is clear though, I appreciate the response.

I am so easily confused these days. Menopausal brain freeze coupled with extreme blonde syndrome really makes me ditzy! Sometimes it takes me a few minutes to have the discussion sink into my brain so I can come up with a decent response. Sometimes, I sit for longer periods and ponder what to say. Such is life. Big huggers to you.

Even so, it's more personal if you think about what you have to say. I know that I can act like a blonde myself, and I have brown hair! lol! I appreciate the response! Have a wonderful day!

Hi, that had happened to me once on myLot - I've already replied to a certain discussion, but another myLotter commented and asked me to answer again - apparently he didn't get what I meant. I'm not a native speaker, but have been educated in the English language since young - so I'm better in English than in my mother tougue. Moreover I tend to pick up certain expressions from the English and American novels I read. Maybe I should not be using words like 'cuppa', 'daily java' and so on - I can see it's rather confusing! And Happy Holidays to you - have fun!

Yes, I know there are certain words that you find a novel often, but not said in every day language, atleast that goes true for english language! Have a wonderful day!

Well, judging by this posting, I would say no, you don't confuse me... As a matter of fact, I would have never thought your first language was anything BUT english! Then again, judging by your screen-name, maybe it's being a country girl that confuses people.... us cowgirls don't always use correct grammar - I'm guilty of it, too. On the flip side, there have been some postings by others that REALLY confuse me... I often read their postings over and over again just trying to figure out what they're really saying! lol Needless to say, you are NOT one of those...

I think that you understand me more because you yourself say you don't always use proper grammar, I know I don't. I'm more of the type to use slang words, or southern words honestly. Oh and don't worry, I sometimes find myself reading posts over and over again just to get what their saying, it's bad enough sometimes when it's a person who writes english very well and is telling a joke, "Oh, haha? um, I don't get it?" I'm not that bad, but sometimes I can be. I appreciate the response, glad you can understand me!
