I was just wondering if more people used coupons now to save on money. I was using a coupon at a restaurant the other day and felt as if it wasn't worth using the coupon and only saved about 50 cents. Do you think that it would be worth using coupons and does it save you more money?

Foremost, I've noticed that you have responded to only a few discussions so far; so I assume that you're still a newbie here in this great community. And I'd like to welcome you here; I do hope that you enjoy it here and eventually decide to stay for good.
Anyway, going to your topic in this particular discussion, I don't give much attention to discount coupons. I must admit that I used to be a shopaholic specially if there are great discounts but not anymore. Now, I feel that these promotional items or marketing strategies which a company undertakes, only encourages us to spend more by purchasing these items covered by the coupon; even if we aren't exactly sure for ourselves if we really need the item.
Instead of spending nothing, we go out of our ways to buy the item so we can avail of promos. This is okay if you really need it or if you have extra funds to purchase the item. But presently, I opt to hold on to our cash on hand as long as I could rather than spend it hastily.
Again, welcome to mylot and happy holidays!

Thank you for the comment. I agree that if it is worth buying or if you actually need it, then by all mean go ahead and use one. I don't shop like I used to, but always looking for a deal when I need it. But with the high cost nowadays, it gets harder and harder to find a good deal. I tried to save money this holiday and our family worked out a solution to do like a secret santa. But I found that things are more expensive and I end up spending more than I wanted to. Also, things come up and find out you have to give gifts to your boss and other family members as well. I didn't get much, but it was hard to find even any good sales. Even though I have bought alot less this year, I've felt that I spent too much. But I don't have much to show for it. Although I did get a good deal at this store that sells lotions, creams, etc. That's the only one that was worth it. Thank you again, and have a great holiday.

Hi there,
I was looking at using coupons to save money as well and while I was browsing on the subject, I came across this article on Helium which I found to be quite handy as it had some things on there that I hadn't thought of. Perhaps you can use the advice well too:

I hope this helps, especially right now when life is so expensive!

I find I get more use out of discount cards. When I come across coupons on things I actually use then I try to remember to hang on to them......not with much success I am afraid. I keep discount cards to that I can get 10%-30% discounts at places I actually shop and restaurants that I actually eat at. I also use grocery discount cards and I always comparison shop. Every little bit of money you can save helps.
