Friday afternoon hubby and I went to see my parents in hopes to spend some time with them and give mom someone to talk to and of course do a few things around the house for them. We really had a good time just talking and she still didn't want to decorate for Christmas but my aunt and I did talk her into putting the manger scene out because, after all, it is Christ's birthday. Hubby and I got it out and set it up on her TV entertainment center and then mom said, gee maybe a tree would brighten my spirits a bit. THAT DID IT!! lol Hubby and I jumped on the band wagon and ran with it!! lol We got her tree out of the shed and put it together and hubby put the lights on. By the time he was finished, it was getting a wee bit late so we stopped there and went home. We went back again today to decorate their tree and on the way we bought some household items for them that they may need because money is so darn tight right now. We decorated their tree and then got some other decorating things out and put them all up. Mom is just beaming with pride! She's so happy to have her things out for Christmas that she just beams!! Then mom mentioned getting some pizza so hubby went and got a pizza from a resturant down the road and we had dinner together. We had a great time together just enjoying everything and each other. I did tell them about my nephew, their grandson and dad was a bit teed off about it and said that if my brother says anything to him about it he'll put him in his place because I do have every right to say something to his no count son about not paying mom and dad the back rent that my nephew owes! Dad said he'll take the little sob to court if he has to!! I know he will but I sure hope it doesn't come to that but dang it, my nephew has gotten away with so much lately that it has to be known that it's come to an end. He owes so much money to his dad and now granddad as well as creditors left and right but you know what? It's his OWN undoing!! Not ours. He's going to have to learn a hard hard lesson for his wrong doings eventually and eventually is now. The point is, I didn't keep it a secret for why should I? I mean, I didn't have to tell my parents about the text messages or phone call but I thought they have every right to know so I told them. After that, the subject was changed and we had a great time together tonight!! Yippee!! Another note, mom is doing sooooo much better!! She still has some pain from her broken sternum but nothing like she was before!! She's walking so much better and more stable than she's been since April when she had the awful stroke!! She's really come a long long way!! The only thing bothering her at the moment is that her whole right side is numb and her hands stay cold. She's going to be seeing a new neurologist in January so hopefully he/she will be able to help her. We can only hope!! Please continue to pray for my parents because they ARE being heard!!

It is amazing how a little bit of light, a little bit of decoration, can lift the spirits. I am glad that it was helpful to your mom. It sounds like all in all you are having a good visit right now. I hope things get straightened out.

Yes it is!! Hubby and I didn't waste any time getting the tree out when mom mentioned it. lol It did lift her spirits and in turn lifted mine too. We haven't put any decorations out because of being in such a blue mood but now it's a wee bit late to even consider it. We usually have ours out the day after Thanksgiving. Oh well, we'll enjoy their tree. It's enough for us. But we will put out the manger scene at least. Thanks GG, I hope they get straightened out too and the easy way instead of having to go to court.

I dislocated my sternum in my early 20's. Man oh man was that a problem! I've never really been pain free from that since! I got costacondritus from the event and that perhaps masked the pain that later came from the fibro. At least if your mom has pain like I have for the rest of her life, it won't be for over half her life like it has been mine... I hope it doesn't cause her pain, but.... I'm glad she finally got into the spirit and is feeling better and all. On of our other mylot friend's says her husband's hands are always cold since he had a stroke, I can't say that mom complains about it, but then again, her hands have always been cold....

I was trying to move some stuff that was too heavy, up a flight of stairs and twisted myself (the elevator was out) and that was how I did it. I felt it pop back into place after being in a brace for a while. but I have had on going inflamations ever since.

OUCH ElicBxn!! That's right young to do something like that! You must've had brittle bones as a young one or you hit it just right! Dang.... sorry to hear that! I agree, if it had to happen at least it happened in her later years instead of when she was so young. I didn't know it could affect a person for the rest of their lives. Bless your heart!

Sounds like your spirits have been lifted too. Keep being the good daughter that you've been to your parents and you will get your reward. God is watching everything you do and He will reward his followers in due time. Hope you have a Merry Christmas! Ho Ho Ho!

Thanks for your kind comments RetiredArmyMan. I try to be the good daughter that I should be but sometimes it's a hell of a load to carry alone. I'm not looking for a reward but only the best for my parents is all.

I'm so glad you and your family had such a good time! It's about darned time too! And I'm glad your dad is ready to put your nephew and his dad in their places if need be. Hopefully it won't come to that since your dad definitely does not need that stress added on to everything else. Good for you for having such a good time. I hope it happens more often. Big hugs to you sweetie!

Thank you Kat! Yes it is about darned time! lol It was just my parents and hubby and I but we sure did have a great time decorating for mom. She said it may be her last Christmas so she wanted to decorate just in case so she could enjoy all of it before she goes. I told her to not talk like that for she's not going anywhere if I have anything to do with it! She just giggles. She really does look so much better and is doing a lot better!! There's a huge difference in her walk now than she was back in April when she couldn't walk, talk or even feed herself! She has no idea how far she's come!! Every day is another day of healing for her! As for my nephew, he has no intention of paying that money back to my dad but dad WILL take his butt to court if he has to. My nephew has one rude awakening to wake up to if he doesn't get himself straight. He's burned so many bridges that he doesn't have any more to burn! Well aside from a few friends but that's it. Hubby and I even gave him a chance of a lifetime years ago to come and live with us rent free just to pay for his own cable if he'd go to college. He had to go to college to have free rent and do you know he wouldn't take it? Now how stupid can one be?! He had to start paying rent the month after he turned 18 which I thought was wrong because it wasn't his fault that his daddy (my brother) left his mom so my brother and I got into a heated discussion about that but he made his son pay his mother rent from the time he turned 18, that's why we gave him that chance to come and live with us for FREE but he wouldn't take it. Oh well. Stupid is what stupid does. lol Big ole hugs to you too Kat!! Big ole hugs!! lol

It's lovely to hear your Mom is doing so well and that some seasonal cheer has helped to pick up her spirit. It's a crying shame the rest of your family are so awful. I hope your Dad does take your nephew to court...it would be sinful to continue to let him get away with his shite.

I feel so frustrated on your behalf at my end. I can't imagine the sort of carp you are going through...I don't know how I would manage...you are so strong and resillient, I envy your abilities. That this shite is still happening to you is just crazy, I would have been taken to the funny farm a long time ago...I think you have to somehow let go and let God handle everything. All the best to you and your hubby for 2009....(sorry, I think your family are quite mean to you and they certainly don't appreciate you while they drop everything in your lap, so I don't wish them anything good just that they wake up to themselves and say Thankyou every now and then and that they lay off you for a while...I believe they are sucking the life out of you)

It did cheer her up for a little while but then she went back down hill again. She's been crying since Christmas Day and nothing anybody does helps. I'm at witts end right now and now I have a very sick little girl, my cat Gracie. MsTickle, does bad luck ever end? I've had THE worst year in my entire life!! It doesn't want to end! I'm on this emotional roller coaster that has no ending.... great ups and awful downs.... great lifts and awful drops.... over and over and over again!!
