If your birthday is close to Christmas...

...do you feel a bit 'cheated' somehow?
At a time of year when many people are buying gifts as part of the seasonal celebrations do you often feel that your birthday and Christmas presents get combined into one, allowing 'thrifty' friends and relations to make a saving?
What is your experience with this?

Ha ha, amazing question. My brothers birthday is December second. My mom always complains about how she can't afford to give him a good birthday and a good christmas. I think people think about gifts too thoroughly. We should focus on spending time with each other more.

My birthday is on 30th and before I was married, my parents usually threw a big bash for christmas my birthday and new year. I sometimes got more than one present from the same person. Sometimes, my parents had 3 different smaller parties. That was good too...because the guests were different. My birthday party had my friends and we had two different sets of guests for the christmas and new year celebrations (a few of them were the same, though). I liked the 3 different parties better....because they were more people combined...which translates to more number of gifts...lol...though I hardly remember being excited by the gifts...I liked the people more and enjoyed my time with them.

My birthday is slap bang in the middle of the year which is fine, my daughter's birthday is on the 27th december. Now I said right from the start that I did not want folks trying to lump her birthday in with christmas because it was not fair on her, but everyone is really good and gives her special things for both days. I will keep it special and seperate for her for every birthday too.

One of my kids has a birthday just before Christmas, and I do feel that he misses out a little as a result. Not on presents, he does very well there, but I mean on the celebration angle. We find it hard to organise a party for him at this time of year as everyone is so busy, and at school this year he missed out on the normal birthday celebrations as his birthday coincided with the annual end of term Christmas party. I suspect that I feel for him more than he does though, as I've never heard him complain!

Hmmm... my birthday is not in December but I have friends and relatives who have December birthdays and yes they but not all feel "cheated" somehow especially if the date is close to 25th or 31st. And I too sometimes give gifts to them birthday and Christmas in one LOL but sometimes too I give separate gifts. Its a good thing my two cousins are not near home or else LOL
