well, the way i do green tea is this,
i take the dry leaves, and i prepare a kettle of water, i drop the leaves in the water, then i leave it on the stove on a low fire for almost 10 min,
after 10 min, i check on it, if the water is gone i add more water and leave it for another 10 min, until the color turns light greenish yellow,
you can make it darker and more rich, just by leaving it on the fire for more time,
you can also add sugar in the kettle, maybe a couple of large spoons for a making of 1.5L of water, if not, your call,
and after it is done, you pour it through a filtering for the leaves , then you have my original recipe for green tea,
and also , the bitterness is due to the aromatic oils in the green tea,
if you make it like i do, you`ll get some bitterness, but not an obvious one,
also there will be some foams in the making , so make sure the kettle is not covered to prevent it from spilling over the stove,
the foam in the cup is normal also, gets the taste more real...
hope that helps...

Thanks for sharing . So, the total preparation time would be greater than 15 Minutes ?

well, i made the time line considering the one preparing is taking his time at leisure ,
but if you wanna make it faster, just cut out 6min out of every period i stated,
it`d be almost the same, a lil less aromatic, and somewhat thinner, but the same taste,
the fast version shouldn't last more than 15 min,
how fast does a kettle half full boil anyways? get what i mean...

I prepare green tea the same as any other: Boil fresh water, pour over tea leaves or bag, cover and let it steep. For green tea, five minutes is probably long enough.
If you did that and it's still bitter, it could be the brand. I've found Celestial Seasonings is the best for plain green tea.
