Ever since i entered college, my interest has been drawn to computer. And now that I have my own computer, I decided to study basic programming or any other web application software that would be useful online. And now I am more determined to do it, since I have found an online site that pays to work online doing computer jobs. I have actually started and been paid but the kind work is very basic, that is using microsoft word. But I would like to enhance my computer skills and be able to learn basic programming and web applications. I do think it would increase my possibility of getting hired. Here comes my biggest problem. I am using Windows XP home edition, and based on some data I gathered, web applications software is not compatible with a windows xp home edition. I did tried to download some software in spite of that, and my computer messed up. some software malfunction. so i was force to have those uninstalled. How would I be able to solve this, without having to buy a new cd for windows xp professional edition? any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks

Hi there, thanks for that information. I have checked out your profile page and your Add friend icon has been disabled or removed so I was unable to request you as a friend. Would you add me as a friend instead. Many thanks. Andrew

Try logging in your windows XP home edition in safe mode.Once you sucessfully login then you can move to control panel and remove all the unused applocation.Once it is done then restart your computer and check whether everything is all right now.If its not, then the only way that you can use is retoring the computer.Try resoring your computer to a bit old date and everything will get well but the files you have newly installed will automatically get deleted.

Thanks for your suggestion. I would try this one of these days. Well I hate restoring my pc to an earlier time. It messes the computer. some files stop working because it becomes corrupted, and it means I would need to install again the software I download recently. I would prefer fixing it through safe mode.

Oh... just now checked out the internet and found that there is no servers available for ASP or ASP.NET(At least, I didn't get). Chili!soft has been discontinued. So, you have no options. You can run web applications based on php, jsp, etc i.e. non-microsoft on apache but for asp or asp.net web applications, you will need IIS I guess. But you have option to choose web applications based on non asp. So you can install apache.

You don't have to upgrade your OS to run the server. Which web server you need to use depends on what application you are going to use. If the web application is based on ASP or ASP.NET, you need Chili!soft, which is not free of charge. But for any other type of web application, you can download and use Apache. Apache is free of charge.
I think Chili!soft is no longer available. I am not sure. To help you better please tell me what kind of web applications do you need to run. Are they ASp or ASp.net based?
