Hi everyone :) I have a good news, and this is very exciting. My hamster is pregnant for the 1st time, is there is any tips how to take a good care during her pregnancy? I'm just realize that she a little bit aggressive, she even bite my hand when I play with her. I've already separate the male hamster, and give her a nice, clean place for the birth. I just cant wait to see the babies :) So, any good advice or tips?

Hello bliveinurself. Congratulations! I used to have hamsters as pets. One of them gave birth. It was her first time giving birth. I was about to feed her when she bit me. I was terrified. I found out that you shoudnt touch a pregnant hamster or she'll really bite you. What we also did was separate the male hamster into another cage so the mommy hamster will have her privacy.

Congrats! I have just had 3 litters of hamsters since November and feel now I have done so much research on them, that maybe I can give you good advice. While mom is pregnant, you can feed her turkey, it will help boost her protien so she will have healthy babies and not eat them. Take the father out of the cage if you have teddy bear hamsters, dad will eat them. If you have dwarf hamsters, dad will help raise them, but he will also make it so mom will have another litter in as soon as 17 days (happened to me). The best advice is to make sure you buy vitamen drops for the water bottle and go to the bulk section of your local grocery and buy a variety of different unsalted nuts. I also gave my mom milk while she was nursing and milk soaked bread pieces too. I haven't lost a babie yet, we've had a total of 25 since November and they are quite amusing and adorable. dwarf hamsters can be handled as soon as 10 to 14 days, however, teddy bears kind of freak, so you have to wait about 3 weeks to handle them. At that time you can cleanthe cage, but always keep a good handful of old bedding to spread around so they feel at home. They can leave mom at about 4 weeks for the dwarfs and 5 to 6 weeks for the teddys.

WOW! That is soooo neat. They are going to be so tiny. I would be soooo scared to even try to take care of them. WOW!

Just keep her cage clean and warm. Clean water, good food and nice soft clean bedding. The babies will be there in no time at all. Here is a link on breeding hamsters and pregnancy. http://www.hamster-heaven.com/breeding_02.html

Congratulations I hope all goes well,I think hamsters just get on with it,fresh veg, fruit and fresh water. Clean bedding and leave her alone if you are worried ask a vet but mind it does not end up costing a fortune,we need a vet on here to give advise any one out there?
