I like Spivs, it just takes too long. Some games go on for months!

Personally I like most board games, so it would depend what mood I am in of who's about, but I suppose if I was really pushed to give an answer then it would have to be Monopoly.

my favorite board game is monopoly and scrabble. I like to play scrabble because its so challenging, and i learn alot of words, and even practice some words. When Alot of people who knows alot of words, they still need to know if the words they know will score much. I love playing scrabble.

It's the scoring strategy as much as anything which makes it fun but one can also laugh about some of the words that come up!

Up to this point (30 responses) the stakes are:
Monopoly (15), Scrabble (9), Chess (7), Cluedo (4) then
Spivs, Life, Risk, Trivial Pursuit and Checkers/Draughts all have 2 each and
Masterpiece, Trade, Mahjongg, Dark World, Aggravation, Pictionary, Ludo, Carrom, Chinese Checkers, Uno and Mancala have 1 each!

I like games like Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit where I have to use my brain. I seldom play them any more since my son hasn't been living at home. He enjoyed these games, too, but I don't see enough of him any more (he lives about 1 1/2 hrs. away) to have the time to play with him. And my husband doesn't care for games like this. He prefers cribbage.

I like a game of crib, too. I play it on the computer because I don't want to go down the pub and lose money! Scrabble is one of my favorites and I'm a secret Literati junkie (when I'm not on MyLot!). TP we always play at one person's house at Christmas.

Checkers, Monopoly, & Scrabble/Anagrams are my favorites. I don't own a Trivial Pursuit game, but a friend brought his when he came to visit about 20 years ago, and we had a blast with it. When I'm not busy, I'm going to come back here and share a link to something I wrote about Monopoly.

I like playing scrabble cos you really have to use your brain to create a good word that can boost up your score and that will lead you to win. The online game litterati is also the same with the scrabble really, love to play with it online, just nice to sit, think and play.

I love Literati, too. I have met so many nice people playing it! Sometimes we have completely forgotten the game in chatting!

Chess is a very good game for the mind. It helps teach planning ahead in life as well as the game.

They are very addictive and fun! The more people you have playing both of them, the better they are!
Have you ever tried playing them TOGETHER!

Aggravation! It is a marble/board game that my mom had and we used to play it all the time. Now that we are older and my mom moved TOO far away, we don't play it anymore. That is funny cause I was just thinking about that game last night! LoL!

I don't know that one. I shall have to look it up. Just the title sounds like it's fun, though!

That's a good question. The last time I played a board game it was Monopoly or Chutes and Ladders - LOL. I know I used to play a lot more when I was younger but I guess that is something that I've put aside for now. I know there are a ton of games out there but I just don't know any of the new ones.

Chutes and Ladders? That's a new name for me! Here it's always known as Snakes and Ladders. Is yours called Chutes and Ladders because many people fear snakes, I wonder?

I like the image! My favourite board game is monopoly. I only usually play it once at year at Christmas get togethers with the family. It's great playing monopoly with the family as it lasts a long long time and is highly entertaining and fun.

I think the more people you play with, the better game it is. It seems that many people play it only once or twice a year! It's an excellent family game, for sure.

The first mention of mancala! It's a really superb game that ought to be more popular. I learnt the Malawi version called Bao, once, but I have forgotten some of the rules.

I love board games and keep saying we should play them more but somehow we hardly ever do that except when we get together with friends around Christmas. It's hard to pick a favourite one, I would say a few of my favourite ones were: Othello, Backgammon, Risk and Monopoly. I never tried Mah Jongg as a real board game but I get addicted when I play it on a computer.

Long winter nights in Iceland would seem to be the ideal situation for board games! Mahjongg as a four-player game is QUITE different from the computer version! If you think of the difference between Whist or Poker or card games like that and the various solitaire or patience games which use the same deck of cards but are quite different games, there is the same difference!

Chess is definitely high in the popularity stakes here.
