Do you ever take people's advice or do you have to do things your own way and make your own mistakes? Have you ever not listened to advice and regretted it? Or been happy that you didn't (many times, I get a lot of idiot advice lol)? Or the other way around? Listened to advice and regretted it or been happy that you didn't listen to it? Anybody in your life who is constantly giving you whacko, off the wall advice?

maybe you just need to pause and think things over before acting!

I tend to ask advice from a lot of people and then end up doing what i was going to do in the beginning anyways. lol but i enjoy listen to other peoples ideas... except my mother in law. i never ever ever ever ask her for advice :)

I do ask other people for their opinion on things. Sometimes I take it. Sometimes I don't. In the long run, we have to make our own decisions, no matter what anyone else says.

I try to take useful advice but I hardly ever manage cause I'm very stubborn and prefer to experience things my way. If it's something small like "Be careful on the road,it's slippery out there",I will listen. If somebody's says something I'm not 100% sure about,I'd double check against all odds. I do regret that I didn't finish college despite my mom's advice but then living on my own made me who I am now. I'm glad to be independent and am planning to go back to school sometime soon. We should listen to advice that proves itself, for example a person dying from lung cancer asking you not to smoke. Who wouldn't listen to that?.. Otherwise,it's good to make sure. Your own experience is what makes your life yours.

I have a stubborn streak myself. Usually when I solicit advice (and sometimes even take it) it is related to something I'm not very familiar with!

I am a pretty stubborn person. I always ask for advice but i usually never take it. People give me good advice but if it's not what I want to hear then i do my own thing. Usually I regret it cause like i said people are usually right when giving me advice. i do my thing and it blows up in my face. I dont think I'll ever get it!

lol perhaps you need to count to 10 (or 100), take deep breaths and really think things over before you act!

i do take or rather listen to what other people have to say about the matter i might need advice in ..... so i dont really turn a deaf ear..... but not necessary that i follow the advice.... for instance when i needed some advice from my dad(who is a professional artist) regarding a painting i was doing he gave me the requested advice and then i thought over it for a couple of mins and of the pro's and cons of taking the advice positively and going according to it and vise versa.... i decided to go along with his advice cos i know that he is a professional in that particular field and so he would know better...... when it comes to horses and dogs..... he comes to me for my advice as he knows that i am a professional in the field of animals..... but there are some people who think they know everything on the face of this planet and thats where the advices get wasted..... by the people who gave them and also the people who consider them!!

You do have to weigh the advice carefully, including the expertise of the person who is giving it...

I have found myself more or less seeking advice from others as opposed to people coming to me. I don't always like to give too much advice myself. Sometimes I think it better that someone listen to their own heart and it will lead them the right way. There have been a couple of times that I wished I had listened to some advice but I was probably too young to understand their point of view. Of course there is the unwarranted advice that I receive without asking and that can be bothersome to me sometimes.

I'm more likely to listen if I have solicited the advice. Also if it's delivered politely...

If someone wants to give me advice then I generally listen to them out of politeness but chances are I won't be acting upon their advice. I would rather do my own thing and investigate! I do thoroughly think about something before I do it though so I guess I take calculated risks. There have been times in my past when there would be someone trying to give me lots and lots of advice and they could just never take the hint that I was not interested; this can really get to you! It depends upon the situation. When I find the advice good I take it but when I don't agree with it then I won't take it. I always do things on my own but sometimes try to listen to other people too.

well I gather a lot of advice but I'm still the one who will decide on what I'm going to do with my life. I take advices as an idea on what I'm going to do... Happy posting!!!!!

Actually I seldom gather advice, but if I get some and it makes sense I will definitely listen (and sometimes even do it).

When the subject matter is difficult and I don't know much about it, or when the negative and positive are almost of the same weight, I ask for enlightenment and advice. I also do my own reading and research. Now that the internet is available, that is easier to do. After the advice and my own research, I make the decision on my own which may or may not follow the advice I received earlier.

Since I've done things my way for years i am hardly asking for advise unless its about things i'm not aware of..I'm not a prude but i like things my way so i know where everything is and will be able to find it easier..if its advise over something i don't know, then i'm eager beaver..lol..

I like to make my own mistakes. I know I am going to make some. I'm not perfect and I'll be the first to admit. But there are times when I go to my fiance and ask for advice. And I'll certainly consider what he has to say. It depends on the situation, the time, and stuff.

The best thing to do is to find somebody who speaks English and practice with them.

I will listen to someone's advice if I really have no idea what to do in a situation. I will also listen to someone's advice if I know they have experienced the same situation and if I trust them to give sound advice. I will normally try to make my own decisions. Live and learn. This way, you have no one to blame but yourself if something goes wrong.
