Cat boosts a small Japanese town's local economy by 10 million dollars??

Basically a cat revitalizes the economy of a local town just by being "cute" 
. I don't know how else to put it!
I got this from a newsletter im subscribed to and couldn't help but gape at my screen with an open mouth!
Would you spend hundreds upon thousands of dollars to travel to see a CAT?
If so WHY? If not also why?
Personally i wouldn't because plenty of cute stray cats around here lol
Do you think that if you do something in your area it would have such an impact? Or do you think that is just one lucky cat?

gee i wonder what this cat does that makes it so popular, it must be ver special, i love cats very much but i am not sure I would go to a lot of expense to go and see one cat unless it did something extraordinary or unless it was purple I guess....
