Abortion -- Pro Life or ProChoice and why?

Personally, I am pro-choice because I believe that women should have a right to have an abortion because it's their body. However, I do think it disgusting when women do abortions for the wrong reasons. Abortions in cases of rape, incest, or life threatening conditions for the mother, I definitely have no objection to. What I object to is women not having a child for flimsy or superficial reasons. But who am I to stop them from making this decision? I would not feel comfortable banning a woman from making a choice about something growing inside her body. Plus, when you ban abortion, the death rate of women and infants in that country increase. This is because women attempt to kill their fetus themselves instead of going to a professional. They end up damaging themselves and their child.

I am pro-life because I think life begins at conception and a baby is innocent. It is terrible that the time limit in my home country is up to 24 weeks pregnancy. Typically ladies that have an abortion because they don't want a baby have one before 12 weeks. The National Health Service do an ultrasound scan at 20 weeks and if a disability is found they could have an abortion then. I think that adoption is an excellent of life and abortion is killing an innocent one. In theory it is superb that in some countries abortion is illegal but in reality some ladies will have a back street abortion in dirt conditions. I think birth control is great and all unwanted babies could be adopted. In my home country a lady that is raped could take the morning after pill.

Thank you for your opinion. You are the only pro-life response and you have very good arguments. I'd have to agree with many of your points. But I hate to be the one to choose what another woman wants to do with her body; therefore, that's why I am pro-choice. We may not agree with everything other women do, nor should we condone their actions, but limiting their freedom if a form of oppression, in my humble opinion. But then again, I don't feel that life begins at conception, as you do.

I really like to hear other people's opinions. One of my friends split up with her boyfriend and went out with quite a 'rough' sort of man and at age 20 she got pregnant. She went to have an abortion. Whilst I would never have an abortion I respect other ladies choice to have one if it is legal. I have seen photos and diagrams of how a baby develops in pregnancy. I later a lady has an abortion the worse I feel it is for the baby. In my country a medical abortion is available up to 9 weeks pregnancy and that in that the lad is given pills. After that stage the process of abortion is much worse. I found out my second baby has spina bifida at 36 weeks pregnancy. I was offered an abortion and I said no way. My son is now a happy little 19 month old.

Wow, Im surprised this topic has so few replies, its definately a touchy subject for a lot of people. I am definately pro choice. I have two kids of my own, its not really an option for myself because I would feel a lot of guilt, but then again I have never been put into a situation such as rape or incest so who am I to say? However, for women who use it as a form of birth control sickens me because I know a few people who are so deserving of a baby but cant have one of their own, they would die at the chance of motherhood, when so many women take it for granted. I know of one woman who has had 3 abortions and is the same age as me, 26. It should be pro choice for any woman who will make the choice responsibly.

Wow, 26 and 3 abortions?? That's horrible. I agree that this type of behavior is totally unacceptable. But with everything, there are always people who abuse their rights. I only support the right to choose because women deserve control over their own bodies. However, some women are definitely not capable of doing this responsibly. But yeah, there are sadly a lot of women who can't have children and a lot of children out there with no parents :( The adoption system also needs to be made more efficient to help out both parent-less children and people who desperately want to have children of their own.

What I find disgusting is when a women uses abortion as a forum of birth control. I know somebody who has been pregnant more times then anybody in my can keep track of and each and every time she has had a abortion to rid her pregnancy.I'm just being modest when I say this, But I believe she has had 4 or more abortions but her brothers and sisters told me they believe she's had more.

I am support pro choice. It's really a matter of what their situation is. It's their body and it's their situation. I am not here to judge, I am just here to live my life. Also, there are women who have been raped that should have support if she wants an abortion. This is just my opinion.
