It's the title of an album which I found on one of my media player recently. Obviously, it's well received by most of people who know it's meaning. But, I just wondering that sentence is a Chinese saying translated in English or an oral English saying? I learnt someone has discussed with others a time in a TV program. However, they didn't got an clear idea, so I am still confused now. May some one can clear this for me, thanks.

Long Time no See is a direct translation of a chinese saying "hao jiu bu jian"
firstly, long time no see is not proper english as far as i know. so i honestly doubt it is an oral english saying. =)
