What is the worst item you have ever bought on Ebay?

I have been buying online for years now and of the many transactions I have had through Ebay I have only ever bought two things that were mistakes by me but eactly as seller described. The first one was a brochure about the Red Arrows that after I had bought realised I could have picked up free at the RAF stand at a local airshow and the other was this week when I received a bright blue cardigan brand new as as described but unfortunately it looked just like a school cardigan rather than the one my daughter lost and loved so I will list it for sale on the school pin board in the new year and give her the bargain one I found that is perfect when I went down town tomorrow. These mistakes were mine not the sellers but please share any stories you may have about bargains, wrong goods and descriptions and how you dealt with it all. Huggles. Ellie :D

The worst transaction I allmost had was when I bought a my little pony and the e-mails were very awkward. The guy that sold the pony had very odd replies, I don't even remember what for, and after some days he didn't reply but his mom did. He had allready sold the pony to someone else, but he did ask me to send him te money! It was really awkward.. and as far as I can remember it was on Ebay, but it was years and years ago and the strangest transaction ever!
My other bad buy were lovely boots with fur, which I thought was fake. The seller forgot to mention it was actual bunny fur . I don't want to wear fur and I felt really bad that I had because the seller didn't state this in the auction. I sold them to someone else. They were really pretty but bottom line is that I don't want to wear real fur, and so I passed them on.

Hi Cyberfluf, That pony transaction was an odd one indeed, how could it have been sold to someone else if you won it, strange. The boots, yes no real fur so you done the right thing and sold them on hopefully this time stating real fur. Thanks for sharing. Seasons greeetings to you. Love and huggles. Ellie :D

I have bought cross stitching kits from eBay and have been pleased with what I received and even more pleased once I have finished them. I have only done Winnie the Pooh cross stitchings so they are the only ones that I bid for. Once I had bidded for one and when it arrived I was excited only to find that they were photos of Winnie the pooh, and not even originals. It looked like the person had printed them off and were then selling them on. I checked my eBay recently bought and realised that of course it was my mistake. I was gutted!!!

Hi Cinderella, I guess we should all read the description a bit more indepth each time we bid, but I will be able to sell cardigan on and will learn from it. It is lovely that you do cross stitch. I ersonally haven't the patience, the only thing I really do is crochet and then I have to be in the mood so well done you and Winnie the Pooh is lovely to do. Thanks for sharing. Huggles. Ellie :D

I learned my lesson and then started buying from eBay shops at least that way I knew it would be cross stitching!!! I must admit it does take a lot of patience especially since its counted cross stitch, - you have to count out the stitching. Its not too bad when the design is printed onto the Aida fabric.

I never ordered anything on Ebay after I watched an episode of Judge Judy when someone advised a rare set of cards and it was just a copy. Another time I watched an episode where someone advised something and well they sent the picture. And besides I never liked the idea of biding higher for something when I could get it cheaper someplace else.

I wanted a washboard and I found one that I thought was cute and bid and won, well, when I got it it was a doll sized one!!!! I was so mad, but I guess I did not read the description right. I waited about a month and resold it on ebay as a doll item and got my money back at least!!!

I am both an Ebay buyer and seller, and while I have 100% feedback and good ratings, the only transaction I complained about was a pen that was suppose to be a pen and a radio, never got the pen to write or the radio to work and the seller didn't reply to my email. However because I paid with Paypal I was able to make a claim and got my money back, now I read the items description carefully before bidding.

Hey Ellie. I don't think I've ever purchased one thing from Ebay! I know that's quite unusual, I've thought about it but just never did it.
I did order a book for my profession off of Amazon once. It said it had a "slight binding problem." Well, when the book arrived, the glue part of the binding just didn't work, every single page of the book was separate. I flipped the book open, and the pages just laid there loose.
I thought, how can I use this with all these loose pages flying everywhere, so I emailed the vendor. He wrote me back and said, "sorry" and that he'd credit my account in full. I wrote him back and thanked him, telling him I would mail it back, and he said, "oh no, just keep it."
Well, I have that book to this day but it is almost impossible to use, with all the loose pages. So, I still don't consider it a bargain.
Glad you made out so well with the sweater for your daughter. Plus, your plan to selll the other sweater sounds like a real winner. Ellie, you are always quite the thinker!

Hi PearlGrace, It was good of the seller to just allow you to keep rather than send back but it is frustrating when you think you have ordered one thing and receive something else but my two boo boos on Ebay were my own fault and all my other expereinces have been positive. Huggles. Ellie :D

The worst item I bought was just last week. It was a new mousepad description stated the item was located in Canada but after waiting almost 3 weeks it arrived from China and was of such poor quality and did not look anything like the photo on the description. Out of principle I never buy items made or located in China. When I complained of the description being untrue the seller had a hissy fit. So I was happy I could give her lousy feedback!!!

Hi Whiteheather, I wonder if i was someone in Canada using a dropshipping company and that is why the seller had such a hissy fit as they would see the same pic as you, still should have treated your complaint with respect and refunded if you were not happy, they deserved the lousy feedback you gave. Mine had to be the camera phone I bought from someone in "Immaculate condition, still under warranty"..the condition was NOT immaculate,it was scuffed and worn, and the camera wouldn't work..I contacted the seller, they said it was working the "last time" they used it..I tried using the warranty, having to post it back to the place they'd bought it..the repairs department contacted me to say it had been "Water damaged" and the warranty was thus void, and did I want the non-working phone back? Lesson Learned?...Buyer beware...

Hi ShepherdSpy, Well I hope you started a dispute to get your money back and neg rated big time. This is so wrong and it is people like this that do make people wary of purchasing from priate sellers on Ebay. At least buying from the shops there is some comeback. Huggles. Ellie :D

I'm sorry to hear that. I've never bought items on Ebay. Instead, I bought on Taobao. Do you know it? We have to be very careful when buying things from online shops. Anyhow, forget it. it's no big deal.
wish you good luck next time.

Hi Chenxiaoyue, I have never heard of Taobao so will look up in a minute to see what it is all about. I find Ebay is great most of the time and as a seller have only ever had one non payer but was allowed to relist for free and got over the orginal purchases bid so I guess it was supposed to be. Hi Marketing, Oh I love Ebay and have bough many items and these ones were entirely my fault. I think that as long as the person has reputable feedback or is a shop you are ok. I would start by buying something of relatively little cost and seeing how you get on with it. Seasons Grettings. Ellie :D

I have been buying off ebay for about three years.Alot. I only have one bad experience to share. All the other have been great.
I bought a clock once that was rectangular and adorned with a metal plaque engraved with mermaids and old dtyle viking boats. This was also the face of the clock. It looked beautiful in the pictures. I didn't get it for two months and when I did it was falling apart.I reported it to ebay but you only have a certain amount of time to do it and two months was to long. The seller wouldn't respond. I didn't get reimbursed but the seller was suspended. I don't know if it was because of me though.

I was decorating a new apartment a few years ago and bought what was supposed to be oil paintings on canvas that I was going to have framed. (I got them really cheap and now I know why). When they arrived down around the edges what was supposed to be the painting was peeling away from the canvas in big sheets. The seller refunded my money and shipping and did't make me return the prints. They went right in the trash. That is one thing I like about ebay, the seller is just another person like you and for the most part I have found they will work with you if you just communicate with them

Hi RebsHart, That is good that the seller refunded all your costs. I have had no problems with Ebay at all as the two mistake purchases where my own fault not the sellers but I have found this discussion interesting seeing what experiences others have had. Thanks for sharing. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Tamara, Ebay is great for somethings but not for others like any shop really whether online or high street. I have managed to pick up quite a few good deals lately though which I am pleased about except ofcourse for the cardigan but my fault LOL. The one thing not to do is get carried away bidding as you have to check postage cost also and make sure combined that it will be cheaper than shop price. Huggles. Ellie :D
