problem in my LENOVO YSERIES laptop

For last 8months,my DVD-RW can not identify any CD or DVDs except original ones viz. windows xp cd, driver cd etc. I am totally confused for this matter. The service centre is 70km away from my home. So I want to know its solution first.Then, if required I'll go there.Can anybody help me?
