Does heaven suck?

Just wondering what is so wonderful about this heaven we are supposed to go to after we die. Some say that animals have no soul or spirit. I think heaven would be a terrible place if it is just full of people. I think all higher life forms have some ethereal mind that last afterwards. I like my all my animal friends. Where do they go? What do you think of heaven just being full of people?

I have to disagree about going to heaven, I have no intentions or inclinations to go there when I die. Based on the teachings of the Bible I believe there will be a resurrection of good people back to earth, to live in paradise as we were supposed to do from the beginning. I believe that there are a limited number of individuals who will go to heaven after they die, and their role is to rule over the earth. But what would be the point of all people going to heaven, who would they rule over if there was no one left on the earth? I have discovered that there are lots of different confusing theories out there, evolution being one of them. But so far the only evidence I have been able to logically base my beliefs on is in the Bible. So far it has never guided me wrongly. :)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I happen to believe every word of the Bible. I have not "adapted" anything. I have not been able to find any occasion where the Bible contradicts itself, you just have to be prepared to do the research. Anyone can dismiss any theory if they don't understand it, doesn't mean its wrong though. Many of the stories of Jesus were written by eye-witnesses. Evolution and reincarnation are not teachings of the Bible, they are theories by men who didn't bother to read the book in front of them. I'm not one to criticise anyone else's belief system, but when someone challenges my belief in the Bible, I have to ask the question: "Have you even read it?"

Since when were the basics of Christianity established in Tudor times?

Sorry i meant the control of the church over the civilians rather than the establishment of the basics of christianity. And i do respect people's desire to read the bible and their own beliefs in holy books and God, but if you don't like it being questioned or argued then why are you commenting in a site based on debates and peoples' opinions. I do admire people who are able to put ultimate faith in something they believe in, but i also have the free will to explore their beliefs and my own. I'm simply questioning and am curious, i had no intention of being disrespectful.

look, animals having soul or not does not matter but they have a life. we are told in our religion that animals don't have a soul, but humans have... but then again we don't exactly know what is a soul? maybe it is just something for the humans. and we are told of 'horses' in the heaven, so there must be other animals. plus, God assures that we will get ANYTHING we want.

Hi, thanks. To be honest with you, the 3 can't be explained things, that happened to me, 2 were human spirit type things, the other was the other. I have had no such awareness with animals, except when they were alive. You know, like a third sense between friends thinking on the same track. There is certainly something else out there.

Oh, better add one to the list of can't be explained very well. I'll write about that later.

I think you have the idea of heaven confused somehow. Heaven isn't an empty space filled with humans. Instead it is an infinite space where we will any thing we want and if that includes your pets here on earth you will have them. You are not just going to be yourself walking around for eternity. You will be a creator as well.

Thanks for your comment annajilena, Some are having belief that no animals have a spirit for the afterlife. I have seen the evidence for people, but not critters, myself. Others may have had such knowledge given to them.

Heaven is a wonderous place that once we get there, we'll not want to come back to earth because the feeling of love and peace where there's no pain or suffering, just all the good things none of the bad. Now I don't agree that animals don't have souls. That bologna! Anything and everything that is alive has to have a soul!! If it breathes and has blood running through it's veins, it has to have a soul! Dogs, cats, tree's, anything and everything alive has a soul. I wouldn't believe it to be otherwise for even a second! After all, we are all God's creatures! Right?

A heaven that sucks is not heaven at all. It must be some place else but that's not heaven. Heaven is the ultimate place. That is why it was called "heaven" in the first place. It is a place where residents there will feel satisfied to every aspect of being in heaven. Don't think of heaven as a "material" place because it is not. Beings who will live there are in the form of spirits. It is a much higher form than what we have now. Spirits don't die. They don't have material body. If the residents of heaven are not "material", it is safe to suppose that heaven isn't "material" also.

Hi ethanonthemoon, I think heaven is the afterlife, where minds go, into the ether of minds. Sort of. I wonder, if a spirit exists as an entity in its universe while it exists and operates in this universe. Like being on show and tell without knowing it, or inter-universal candid camera. Ha ha, I loved that show.

I think it depends of which concept of heaven one talks about. If it is an Islamic concept of heaven you'll have lot of virgins given to you... For the Christian understanding of heaven there is the tradition that animals will also be there. It does not mean all the individual, say, lions will be there but species call lion will be there. And the same applies to other animals. I don't think heaven will be boring... there will be lot of adventurous projects being undertaken and human minds will be engaged with lot more of exciting adventures.

Heaven is a place of many wonders you can not relate with it the same way you think of things in the earth, there are terectia beings and other activities which Apostle Paul discibe as not lawful for men to speak

VKXY62, “To be able to practice five things everywhere under heaven constitutes perfect virtue. They are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.” by Confucius. So, does it mean that there is nothing to yearn for after living a good life and fighting a good fight? If so, then I would say that we would have lived this lifetime in vain. Wouldn't you think so, too? I am sorry that I simply do not have the same prerogative about heaven as you have and I'd rather like an old Eskimo proverb: “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” So, if I ever reach heaven I would hope to find three wonders there: first, to meet some I had not thought to see there; second, to miss some I had expected to see there; and third, the greatest wonder of all, to find myself there. Cheers and compliments of the season.

Hello skysuccess, thanks for coming in. Your comments are of course, enlightnening. I wrote Confucius down, and printed it out. Worth looking at every day. I think there is something after life, just got a glimpse, not sure what to make of it. :-)

Heaven does not suck. If you think about what Jesus says about heaven how wonderful it is and a great kingdom it is. Why do you say that animals have no soul? If you think about what Jesus was teaching that God knows the location of every bird in the sky and all the other animals, then he is able to count every hair on your head why would he not bring the animals up to heaven as well? Animals have souls, if they did not then they would not have any feelings or care about us at all. They would just be wild creatures with no recompense of the actions they take. Even the wild animals show some form of love and affection for each other. Think about the monkeys that clean themselves or the tigers that take care of each other when one gets hurt or killed. Animals have souls, and I think the animals will be there to greet us in heaven as well.

Hi Isabellas2007, I am confused about why there is conjecture about this question. There is for and against. I know there is for regards humans, but, I would like to hear from anyone with an experience regards critters as well. I think there is a spark of some kind between friends, doesn't matter what kind of critter.

If Heaven exists then it is, by definition, paradise. If your paradise is the Earth with only good people, then that's what it's like. If your paradise has animals, there are animals. Personally, I think that (if it exists) it must be so far beyond anything our pitifully incapable brains could imagine that it won't matter whether there are people, animals or anything else - that will all be irrelevant.

Hi SpikeTheLobster, (crazy name) :-) Sort of along the lines of thought I try to struggle with. Like knowing something and thinking back to before you were aware of anything, or enlightnening, puts it well. I played with dual conciousness. Interesting, it can be triggered. I used it during sleep, so that I was aware I was dreaming so that I could do what I wanted while in a dream. Good when it works, needs practice, like meditation.
