Tai Chi is a tradisional form of chinese Martial Arts and is practiced widely for enhancing health all over the world. It is undoubtedly a healthy exercise, but do you think it is effective as a form of martial arts or self defense art? Lots of people think that it is slow and not "powerful" at all. Some even think that it is old folks play. What do you think about it?

Thanks for the reply. ^^ What kind of martial arts can combine with Tai Chi? Do you think that Tai Chi is effective as a self-defense art by itself? I've seen movies and dramas showing Tai Chi (plus some added effect) which shows that it can be effective, but it seems that it doesn't give that impression to most people in reality. What do you think?

Tai Chi Is practiced slow, but it also developes muscle memmory...this allows the person in a defensive situation, to be able to do the techniques by instinct and with more power. on the outside, someone might say it is for girls or older people but in reality it can be devistating because of the perfection of technique.Hope that helps =)
