world's biggest ferris wheel catches fire

That would scare me too. I have seen them many times but have never had the desire to ride on one of them. I do not ever want to now.

I have never been on a Ferris wheel before. I would love to be able to get on one. Even after this just because one does doesn't mean they all do seems someone was slacking maybe in their maintenance work. But people still need to be cautious on all rides no matter how tame they think.

we get visiting carnivals here and just went this summer and grand daughter an i wnt on the Farris wheel . Yup would still go on it. Just like when one ride we called the hammer had one break into never stopped me from riding it when ever possible!

Ferris Wheels scares me and weird part I'm not afraid of heights. I think it has something to do with the rocking motion. Every once in awhile we will go to the amusement park, when we can afford to. Honestly, I never thought of the dangers until I had kids.

I quit going to amusement parks a long time ago. I have seen so many reports lately of rides killing people. I do not think that these wild rides are safe at anytime. I have seen where the ferris wheel has tipped over backwards throwing everyone off. I guess any of the rides could catch fire. Wouldn't it be horrible to be in the top seats and see the fire coming up at you. Just goes to show you are not safe avywhere.

yes it was really pretty scary to see it in the news. but i was surprised to see that the ferris is really so big and really nice though. seems like the safest ferris wheel in the world if not only of that incident. i would still want to ride on that one if i will get the chance to go there. hope this incident wil be the last though. besides that incident i think that it is still safe. and cool to be on that thing.

These new ferris wheels are like little cabins, we have a new one here in Melbourne I think it holds about 20 people in each cabin, ours only started running last week I must be honest i am going to wait for awhile before i go on it...I was very brave this year already by going out on The Edge which is like a glass box that moves out of a nre building here 88 stories up, and most people have said they wouldn't do it but i felt safe there but i will still wait for awhile before i go the new ferris wheel...

I think the official understated it when he said some people were a bit disturbed. A BIT disturbed! I imagine the children were terrified. But no, this would not keep me from riding a Ferris Wheel. I guess in the long run the odds of getting hurt at an amusement park are higher when on a roller coaster or something. But I can understand if this would make other people stay off the Ferris Wheel.

iam affraid if ferris wheels because once on a ride, and it was jurking us back and fourth and i had a hair piece on my head and my hair fell off lol it,s funny now but it wasn,t then i was upset. and i went to altanta to six flags over georgia and got on the mind bender this was the worse ride known to man, i really thought i was going to die it carried us about a 150 feet in the air and dropped us, i never been so scared in my life.so i know how scared they was beening that high in the air.

Yes, I just saw this on the news last night and on the paper this morning! I have been on the flyer a few months back and am really relieved that this did not happen while I was on it Going down in ropes would be really scary for me! I think I would just wait instead of doing this! Btw, There was a couple who were going to get married on the flyer but they were lucky because since they were 10 mins late, they did not get on at once. Their wedding planner who was busy decorating was not so lucky and was trapped for about 6 hours! Yikes. Anyway, I'm sure that they will be able to fix this and things will be back to normal :) I really loved my ride the last time and would not hesitate to go on another time
