How global crisis affected your life?

So, global crisis the "it" thing now. The newspapers always wrote about it everyday. How American are going to meet public dismissal, losing their jobs. The Citi group was about to collapse too until saved before the fall. Bla, bla, bla, . . . . So how was it out there? Does it directly give specific impact in your (financial) life? From what I heard many companies dismissed lots of their employees and more went bankrupt. Of course, there are survivors. But those are just talks. I never really see it by myself a certain companies closed down because of bankruptcy. I don't know whether the global crisis impact has not yet arrive in my country or else? How about you in your country?

So far the global crisis has not affected much of my life. In fact I do not feel being in a worse condition. This is not to say that my country is not affected at all. There have been down times and lay offs in certain sectors of the manufacturing industry. Nevertheless since Malaysia's economy does not rely solely on the manufacturing industry its economics fundamentals are said to be still sound. Those laid off have the option of getting employment in other sectors. all the best, rosdimy

Thanks very much for responding. Now I know how Malaysia's holding on thru this crisis. I do think that the manufacturing sectors got the hardest impact of the crisis. Just like the big 3 in US, GM, Chrysler, and Ford. They are in the manufacturing industry. Besides cars are not in the lists of basic needs. Those that are not relying from manufacturing sectors must be able get their way thru this though they must have got the effect though slightly.

I'm from Trinidad. It's a land of oil so we have a lot of money. It's just that we depend on America for some stuff. So whatever happens to America affects us as well but not much. Probably some technology and cloths because we don't really like to buy local clothes. People usually go for big brands like Adidas and Jordan you know stuff like that. So we will lose jobs but our agriculture sector would still thrive.

Hi zackyo7. Thanks very much for your respond and information. I believe that primary needs like agriculture sector can't go down with the crisis because we'll have trouble if it's not secure. I believe all governments in the world will secure this sector first no matter what. I'm from Indonesia and living in a small town very closed to agricultural farms. I can see how daily trade of basic needs has no problems at all. Only that our government have to protect the farmers so that their needs like fertilizers are well distributed.

Hi zackyo7. Thanks for your respond and information. I believe that agricultural sector will be much safer because it provides our basic needs, FOOD. My country, Indonesia, is also agricultural country. And I live in a small town where agricultural sector is at work. I can see how the daily trade of basic needs are going well. Only that government's policies have to be pro to the farmers so that they won't be very much affected by the global crisis. I think every government will protect their main-core industry that is related to the basic needs.

I have to admit it affected me greatly. I just graduated this year as a postgraduate, and now it is time to look for a job. Then, the global economic crisis came. As a result, there are fewer positions this year than previous year. And until now, I'm still unemployed. It is reported that nearly a million college students will fail to find a job this year. This is terrible. I wish the crisis will be over soon.

Hi chenxiaoyue_713. I know whoever got the impact of the global crisis would have financial difficulties. So far what I'm doing is try to hang on to something and not fall apart. I'm in search for a job too and I wasn't a postgraduate anymore. I'm aware of the fact that there are bigger chances for the graduates rather than me. But I still put my hope on it and try to do something to earn money at home. I wish you luck. God bless you. Thanks very much for responding.

i heard that in my hometown there were many companies most of which are export oriented enterprises going bankrupt in the last three months and those which fortunately still survive also could not be immune to the crisis and suffer from flagging market.but for me as a college student, global crisis seems kind of being far from my life and everythings are still in the normal orbit. merry chrismas and happy mylotting.

I think that's the fact that many companies going bankrupt because their clients can't pay the bill. This is serious and bring them down so quickly. You're lucky that you have nothing to worry because that matters to you are just to study. So study hard and well so it'll bring you something good in the future because there are many unemployed postgraduates still looking for a job. Thanks for responding lourry. Merry Christmas.

Hi chariana10. Thanks for responding. So, I learned that the global crisis hit the manufacturing industry quite hard. Most manufacturing industries are collapsing but not the agricultural industries. Maybe it is closely related to our basic needs. Food. We can't live without it, so that's one important sector that every government should protect. Lucky for you that your husband has a good standing. For me, I'm still looking for a job because my small business that my husband started are just growing slowly and we are lacked of capital. Anyway, thanks.

Fortunately the global crisis doesn't have a big effect on my life, but I watch some negative news from TV everywhere. Therefore, I start to consider my purchase. I have tried to purchase less and spend less for the restaurants cost. I think sometimes it's strange. Here the restaurants are still quite busy and crowded all the time. I doubt whether the people are not afraid of the global crisis. I love China

Dear friend, In my place in Southern India most of outsourcing agencies or the BPOs has been effected much and also other areas. The prices of certain commodities too has variations. For some reasons it do have a direct impact on our financial expenses. It also depends upon the value of rupee to dollar in international market. But some companies has forced workers to either resign or dismiss. But later due to government interference they were taken back. There was bit of imbalance in financial most during global crisis in place.

Hi SHAMRACK! Good day. I think it's also a tough choice to make. To force the workers to resign or dismiss might not be a good idea because it'll create more trouble for having more unemployment. But the companies too have expenses to cut down if they want to survive from the crisis. This is hard time for us all. Those outsourcing agencies must be from US mostly, while US got the struck first. It must be tough for them to continue the outsourcing business in other countries.

So far I have not been afected personaly by the global crisis. Yes our superanuation has gone down a bit (not that I had much money in it) but as I am only 28 and dont plan to retire any time soon I belive that in the next 35 years it would be made up what I lost same as my husband. My husband is the only one working and he works in a nursing home (its not like its goint to close any time soon) he also gets regular pay rise there so what has gone up in prices is covered by his pay rise and other benefits. Interest has gone down so when our 3 year contract fix interest is due to renew in 3 months time it would go even more down so I am happy so far. And because I am pregnant and cant go out a lot expecialy shoping we save hips of money :))))

Hi violeta_va. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Now, it's really time to save money. My husband and I was working but we both quit to start our own business while accompanying my parents-in-law. I'm not saying they are too old to take care of themselves because they are healthy and strong and running their own small business. Only that my father in law was sick last year and my husband quit his job to help his father. We never thought the global crisis will hit us the middle of growing our own business. But we try to hang on and look for any opportunities in this crisis. Good luck with your pregnancy and God bless you.

im not in america but the news says that it is suffering its worst econimonic setback now,,,recession is all over...but here in asia things arent too bright too...even if we shouldnt care about american econmy much..we cant help but express that asia is affected by it....globally there is a very dismal economic picture....thats why like those who have been directly hit by it like those who have been laid off or have lost their jobs in one way or another...i also personally feel the crisis...usiness is generally in a bad mood..im affected financially and really have to be careful with all my expenses..it seems that money is so hard to earn...even my friends in europe are all complaining...thats why we should brace for the worsening crisis....

Hi tabachi. It surely affected our life directly and indirectly. As a common people who try to make some business of my own and also looking for a job if there's any openings, I would say I should and also other people have to be prepared with the future. Because we don't know whether things are going to be better or worse. Of course, we have to be careful with the expenses (for middle low class) =))).

Hi again too MichaelCorleone. That's what I'm worrying about, what you had mentioned. Payments are coming late or worse, people are not paying at all. It's all the same anyway because they have the same problems. Do you have your own business? Hope everything's going to be better for everyone soon. Thanks for responding.
