Is Windows Firewall enough?

In a previous discussion I started, I was concerned that I was not able to install Zone Alarm on my new Laptop. Today, I was just looking over programs installed on my new laptop, and I found something called Windows Firewall. Is that good enough to have for a firewall? Or will I still need to buy something else too?

Windows Firewall is not enough because it's from Microsoft. I'm not kidding, many Microsoft products are "copy and paste" product. If you want to buy, I have no idea. But, to tell you about freeware that are good, here is my suggestion: 1) COMODO Firewall Pro: COMODO Firewall Pro is probably the best firewall program. I use it for a long time. It is easy to use where you have more options - Allow, Block, Treat as and Remember Decision. Unlike some other firewall programs, you just have Allow and Block option. 2) COMODO Internet Security: This is a new release from COMODO where they combine COMODO Firewall Pro with COMODO Antivirus. So, you have better protection in just one program. Beside COMODO product, I once used Online Armor but it is hard to understand and have less options. My father is currently using Zone Alarm for about 1-2 months, but he is not satisfy with it and thinking of changing to COMODO Internet Security. As I stated earlier, its FREE and its good. Go to www.comodo.com to download it. Goodluck, and have a nice day! Keep me updated. Thank you. :)

Thanks for the info. Do you know if Commodo is compatible with Windows Vista and a 64 bit Operating System? I am looking at the site right now and it doesn't tell me that. I tried Zone Alarm already and it won't work for me because of the operating system I have.

Thanks so much! One more silly question.... Do I NEED a firewall on my laptop if my Desktop has a firewall and there is router attached to it making the internet work on my laptop?

No, it's not enough at all. Don't buy anything, You can get a freeware online (AVG is the best one of those freewares) But if you gonna buy something and here is the list of really good Anti-Virus softwares -BitDefender Antivirus -Kaspersky Antivirus -ESET Nod32 -Webroot Antivirus -AVG -Northon Antivirus Personally I prefer Nod32. You can check everything here and buy it http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenrewviews.com/

I dont think Windows firewall can protect our pc very well.It can be used but I dont think it will be as safe to surf with it than any other firewalls. So I thing to stay safe its better to install a separate firewall to stay safe over the internet.

No, I never trust Windows/Microsoft software, there's just too much bugs in it. I would suggest a 3rd party firewall software. Zone Alarm is one of the good one. If you have antivirus, check out whether they come with firewall. Most anti virus has firewall that have better feature then Window firewall
