What are you doing this Christmas morning?

My son and his family got a new dog, the 23rd. Had her one night, then went to my dil's parents' for Christmas, last night. She had assumed the dog could go too, but things have changed at her home, and they could not bring the dog. So today we are on our way out the door to go walk the dog. I will probably clean a little while I am there. We just put our turkey into the electric roaster, so we will come back to yummy smells. I feel sorry for the dog, and sorry for myself. I wanted to run around in my jammies all day. So tell me, what are you doing?

I just got up at noon, christmas eve is the big celebration in french quebec, though I was by myself, even my son was out having a good time. I went to bed after he came in and that was around 3 am. I got up today full of aches and pains as usual. I just got around to having a cup of tea, I did peel potatoes and put them on for my stuffing, I make it with potatoes, my son is sleeping so we will eat whenever it doesn't really matter.

We just ate our pumpkin pie. Too full earlier. I have never had stuffing with potatoes, do you cube them, or mash them? Hubby would probably like that a lot. He is a big fan of potatoes.

That sounds really good. Hubby says he has never tried it. We will have to see sometime. In his family they use a turkey/poultry seasoning called Bells Seasoning, and it is really good.

you boil the potatoes, mash them with butter or margarine only no milk, add a small diced onion, and poulty dressing lots of it, you could put a little other spices if you like too but poultry dressing is the secret ingredient, the stuff the bird

My husband work, so I volunteered to work so someone else could spend the day with their family. When it comes to pets, no matter how well behaved they are, they are not always welcome. I took one of my dogs to my MIL's house, he was there almost 2 hours before she realized he was there, then she saw him and got upset because he would shed all over and make a mess.

I had already celebrated Christmas. I did fill in some on other days, hubby was off. I used the time as an excuse to clean a little at their house.

GardenGerty, you sound like me! I go to my daughter's and it's automatic for me to help her clean, or wash, or whatever needs to be done. I like it better when I'm there by myself or when a kid is sick and I was needed. But they are all old enough to stay by themselves now, so I'm not up there that much unless I go with my husband when he goes to work on her car or the yards, etc. I guess it's natural for a Mom to do that. BUT, I've never done it at my son's home, although her Mother does. AND she definitely needs it. My daughter's home is never in the mess hers is in and she has 4 kids. My d/i/law has only two and is home all the time while my daughter works away from home.

We opened gifts with the kids and grandkids on Tuesday. My youngest granddaughter is adorable, she just is so happy almost all of the time and laughs so much, sometimes for no real reason. She is almost three.

GardenGerty, I missed this discussion somehow! Sorry you had to walk the dog on Christmas and didn't get to just to rest and do your thing. I got up early, took my ham out of the oven and put on the turkey. Then I finished the things I had to cook that morning and went after my Mother who stayed all evening with us. My kids and grandkids came in and we ate and visited with them until 6 or 6:30. AND, all that time, my back was killing me! It had started on Christmas Eve and lasted through part of Friday. It was agony and I hardly enjoyed Christmas! Speaking of smelling yummy, I have a roast and potatoes in the oven cooking and it smells yummy, too. I forgot to put it on early this morning before church, so I decided we'd have it later today. Need to go check on it now.

A response is good any time. So sorry about your back. Why did it hurt? The dog is a good dog. I took advantage of the opportunity and did some surprise cleaning at the kid's house, too.

I have no earthly idea what happened to my back unless it was my last day of Christmas shopping on Tuesday before Christmas. Then, I was doing all sorts of things on Christmas Eve and that's when it started hurting, and I didn't have time to rest before Christmas Day. After I rested some I got to feeling better. Then, yesterday, I did a few things over at Mother's, bending, and it started hurting. But I hurried home and took some Ibuprofen and it got okay. But I caught it just in time.

Right now I am the only one up. My husband and son are still asleep. They both stayed up late last night. My son went to his friends house after we opened up some gifts and my husband got a steering wheel for his nascar game for the xbox360 so he stayed up playing. Later today we will cook a ham and have a dinner. We have another Christmas planned for Saturday when my daughter and grandson get here. They normally come on Christmas Day after they open up Santa gifts, they live 300 miles away, but this year things have changed, my son in law is working out of state and got to come home yesterday but has to go back this weekend to get ready for work on monday. So sorry your dil's dog could not go with her. Too bad she didn't know about this and could have waited until after Christmas to get the dog. It is hard for a dog to get used to things when someone is around.

Those work schedules can be the pits. Our turkey smells great. I am sure if Elizabeth had known that the dog could not go she would have waited to get her when they got back. Sheena is a Christmas present for the kids. My son is not a dog person, but this is going to be okay, because she is not really large and she is very well behaved.

I just assumed it was a puppy but I do see in your other replies that she is an older dog and a rescued dog. That is great. I just pictured a puppy being in a home alone. hahaha Yes work schedules can be the pits but at least he is just one state over and was able to make it home for today.

We were cleaning and cooking. Mostly cleaning. The oven and fridge were doing a lot of the cooking. When you're sick often or have arthritis, your house can really, really get away from you. Take care

Hi There! Hmm… It is 26th of December now but yesterday, we woke up late because my siblings stayed until 2 o’clock in the morning and me until 6 o’clock in the morning doing video and voice chat with my man who is in abroad right now. I was full at that time so I just slept then woke up at around 3 in the afternoon… to my amazement, we all woke up late and we haven’t had any lunch yet… after that, mom cooked meal for us… then we ate… hehehe… It is a nice day. ??? Happy Mylotting and Merry Christmas! Cheers!

As to the subject, I welcomed Christmas at the hospital where I was working and in the morning of Christmas day, I was sleeping because of the night shift and having 12 hours of duty. But when my nephews and neices woke me up to get their gifts, I was so happy that they are happy to received their gift and they like it. I stood up to see them all and take a nap again because I still have work that night. Even I dont spent christmas with my family, still I felt that I was with them celebrating.

Today, I went for a long walk in the rain, then I came home and rode my bike on my indoor trainer and did some weight training. I also made crescent rolls, but they got burned on the bottom.

Little Tomatoes on Christmas - This is an experiment to see far through the winter these will keep fruiting on our porch, which is walled in on 3 sides and usually stays 5-10 degrees warmer than below. Also warm air rises?
Merry Christmas Gerty! I was going to take a day off from myLot today, but I decided at the last minute to get hubby one more present and had to turn the computer on to see if I had enough money saved up for that. Well, when the computer is ON, then I have to check myLot, lol. So what I am doing is myLOtting. Hah! But soon I have to get out of my jammies and into something else and go outdoors to check the plants on the porch. We still have tomatoes and cucumber plants out there with flowers and fruit as I am doing an experiment to see how far into the Arizona "winter" they will survive and keep bearing. This photo is a little fuzzy, but no that is not frost.

I will be online hit or miss. We took a good nap and will go feed and walk Sheena again a little later. I have been busy training in a day position and doing major cleaning getting ready for company and so I have missed being online. Did my major shopping that way, too. Now I will start training for another new position.

Oh!! I love that turkey smell. This morning? I did not do anything.. I just log in and do my online thing. We suppose to visit a friend this afternoon for a Christmas dinner but the plan was changed and we just stayed here at home doing nothing. I even felt lazy to prepare supper. I am just here sitting in my desk responding to discussions here in nlyot. I feel this is the worst Christ,as that I have.

Not much! It's been a rough year with my dad and great uncle both being in the hospital last week, but thankfully they are both doing better. It's just me and my parents and my Grandma this year. This weekend hanging out with my sister and her kids, and some friends tonight. It's ok though, hanging out in my pajamas today doesn't sound so bad with all of the snow we go this year! Congrats on the dog! :)Ours got loose in the backyard and we had to chase him! lol Whoops....

Sheena - This is my son and daughter in law's new dog. She is ten years old.
I am really sorry about your dad and great uncle being in the hospital. That is rough anytime of the year. I am not particularly a dog person, but I understand my daughter in law wanting one for the kids. She is pretty calm, and I think will be a good companion for my grandson.
