After age 35 the chances of Downs syndrome and other birth defect increase year by year. Personally I knew when I was 35 that I wouldn't risk having another baby. My best friend who is the same age as your best friend, has 3 children and has been going through all kinds of hormonal procedures and implants to try to get pregnant. She has been my best friend since we were children but this is the only thing I have not been able to support her in. Maybe I'm a bad friend but I am relieved every time she calls me to say "it didn't work this time". I hope she'll give up soon because this is really starting to affect her health.
There are also so many other things to consider. Kids are kids a lot longer now than 30 or 40 years ago. 20 years ago it was no big deal when people got married at 18 or 20. Today, they are just children at that age. Do you think your friend realises that if she gets pregnant now, she will be 63 when her son/daughter is 20?
If you are really good friends, she should appreciate that you really tell her what you think, not only what she wants to hear. I know my friend respects me for that.
