Hi Everyone,
Here's the deal, I lost my job right before Christmas. So, now I need to sell some of my items on Ebay but my camera is a very old digital. I have sold on Ebay for years but never really needed such close ups until now.
I have some jewelry and a few coins I thought about selling...trust me, nothing worth alot of money. Just trying to make a little to get through this rough time for me.
I need a camera under $150.00, quit laughing now cause I can hear you, that can take some close ups.
I don't have that much stuff to sell that need those type of shots, just a few items,...the rest of my stuff is just normal pictures but I still would like them to look decent of course. You always sell better with great pictures.
I have done research on this for like, two months already, but still don't understand what they're talking about, lol! Is it more important to get more pixels or is it more important to get more optical zoom?...Help! Is it better to get a camera with rechargable batteries or just regular? What are your thoughts?
Does anyone out there have an inexpensive camera that takes good close up shots? Anybody?? Please Somebody?, haha!

what you are looking for is a camera with a 'macro' lens. do you have any friends that have a digi camera? ask them for help.
if not...
what is your image quality on your digital? mine is 8 megapixal. i do not have a macro lens but if i take a picture with most of the picture not including the coin (for example), then i can crop it in photoshop (or equivelent) if neccessary.
the quality is still good enough for ebay.
If not i know in the UK we can buy 10 megapixal fixed lenses for under £100 ($65)
hope this helps.

I wanted to answer you as quickly as possible so Bear releases your family! He gets so grumpy sometimes and I didn't want to give him more time to think up another reason to keep them. Hope they're home for the holidays for you soon!
Yes, I did try my daughters camera but it wasn't good enough.
I have heard about macro mode but then comes the question of more pixels, or more optical zoom.
I couldn't even tell you what pixels I have on mine but it must be a very, very small amount. I don't have photoshop and don't know how to use it either. Like I said, I'm just an amateur and just want to take some pictures with a point and shoot.....just looking for the best one I can find. Thanks for all your input, I really appreciate it. Take care. Hope he releases the family now, Thanks again!

This is the one I have:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019GUXL0?ie=UTF8&ref_=sr_1_1&s=electronics&qid=1230351750&sr=1-1
They have it on Walmart.com for about $100.
I think it would do fine -- it has a macro setting, and 3x optical zoom, + 6.9x digital zoom.
If you want a better one, you want to go for the higher OPTICAL zoom, as the digital is not a true zoom.
But I think this would work well. I'm happy with it, and I really like quality pics. I'm adding a pic I took of my finches. Now, keep in mind:
1. I'm still learning to use the camera digital style and I shake
2. This cage is above my head.
3. The birds kept moving so I was literally trying to catch them on the fly.
So, this is not a very good picture, but considering all the difficulties in taking it, I think you can see the camera is capable of good detail.
I am going to come back and upload another pic of a close up.

Wow, Thank You so much for all the information! And the wonderful pictures too!
The last shot of the spider mite was very interesting, and the camera did do a good job. They do have camera's now that control shaking, it's very amazing.
The finches are adorable little birds and I would imagine it would be hard to capture them on film without them flying about. My daughter caught a Hummingbird in flight by a flower once. She's a wonderful amateur photographer. We sat for hours waiting for the right moment and it worked.
I will certainly check out and review the Fuji A805, seeing it has enough pixels to do some enlarging. I learned about the optical zoom and digital zoom and yes, it's the optical zoom I'm after, maybe a four would suit me a little better.
Well, Thank You again for all your time and effort, I really honestly appreciate it and will keep all this in mind when I'm shopping. Take care and Happy New Year!

I forgot to say that finches are TINY little birds. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a parakeet. They're about 2-3 inches long not including the tail.
Here is a pic I took of a very tiny red mite on the porch post. This was the first time I ever used the camera. I didn't know about the macro yet. And I'll post again and show this enlarged, same pic.

I am sorry to hear about your job.
Why do you think about new camera? To take pictures for sell items on eBay?
All you need is studio cube and simple camera.
You don't need many pixels or better zoom.
Check it out:

I would search for better price. I saw same kit on eBay for less.

Thank you Trans, very good, how about yours?
Back to camera, I would buy Fujifilm FinePix S700
Good quality for the prize or Fujifilm FinePix S1000
Good buy for the money and the camera is very good.

I love my Kodak digital. I make jewelry and love the ease of taking and uploading my work to the web like eBay and Etsy. My vacation pics , etc are so easy to send to friends and the Kodak came with software to let me make my own enhancements.

Thanks for responding!
What kind of Kodak do you have? Does it take really good close up pictures of your jewelry? I would love to hear. If you have any pictures of your jewelry feel free to post. I'd like to see them!

The best cameras are still the 35mm film type @Kashmeresmycat Digital is ok but then you have to know what you intend to do with the pictures. If you're not too picky you can probably get a digital for fairly cheap.

Thank you Vicky, I hope I find one soon too. I keep looking daily, and I'm waiting for the Holiday season to be over when companies weed out employees. You are very lucky you have found one so fast. Thank you again for responding.
