Have you been happy in 2008? What were the things and events that made you very happy this year? Who were the people that made you happy? Do you think that the coming year will be better for you?
Well, I have been happy in 2008. Not as happy as in other years but I have had a good year. November and December are the happiest months for me for 2008. A lot of good things happened to me in these months. I hope that 2009 will be a better year not only for me but also for the people I love and care for!

No, to be honest, 2008 is not good for me. In 2007 I graduated from my college, and I began working in my company from 2008, so tired. My company is a new one, for the new company, everything is new, so everyday I must do many work with my colleagues. My major is no use there, I have to learn everything from zero. I was criticized by my leader many times. I hope after one year, the 2009 will be a better year for me.

You should be happy that you got your job in 2008.So it is certainly a good year for you.You have written that your company is new,you are new and the job is not related to your study. There will be always a starting problem in any job you join.As the days pass by,you will be liking your job.Even then if you are not happy, look out for a job that is related to your studies. All the best.May the 2009 bring you lot of happiness in your life.

For me 2008 lacked a balance - between ups and downs, between work and entertainment - between hopes and frustration! And at times I had to conclude that my movements were more towards a hopeless horizon. Finally, I recovered from all sorts of uncertainties during Nov' 08; and thought I have gathered the momentum finally. Anyway, this week till date, has not been productive for me as problems seem to come across my way all of a sudden from nowhere. And then today few hours back, I got a surprise gift but from my Web host. Might be Santa has decided to favor me finally.
Looking forward for a more balanced new year. Cheers!

Hi Dolce-vita, I am really pelased to hear that 2008 has been good for you. If I were truthful I tend to have a real bad year every decade and 1998 was horrendous and 2008 hasn't been much better. I am usually a very optomistic and positive person but I have struggled with that a lot this year, hopefully I will find my lively bubbly self again and things will start to turn around again in 2009. Hope 2009 brings you all you desire. Huggles. Ellie :D

2008 has been an up and down rollercoaster ride for me. I've had my happy times and my not so happy times. I think everyone has those, or at least I hope I'm not the only one who does. I've started the year off with a boyfriend and I'm ending it single. Both "in a relationship" and "single" can be very stressful. I did get to do something I've dreamt about, I got to see New Kids On The Block in concert in St. Louis. I not only got to see them, but I got to take my daughter with me to the concert too. I would say, that would be the highlight of my 2008, Rocking Out With My Daughter! I hope you have a Happy 2009!

Hmmm..I guess your main question is have I been happy this year?
Let's see...I work on comission..I normally make about $30,000 a year...This year I've made like $23,000...Bad year financially..
People either just aren't buying or they just don't have the money like me..I had to pull money out of my 401k to get caught up..I hope that doesn't screw up my taxes too much..
Happy? Yep, I'm happy...Money doesn't really worry me that much...It's a tiny drop in the bucket and something that I try not to think about..:-)
The worse part of my year was about 10 weeks ago...You see I used to have show dogs...GREAT show dogs from GREAT lines, until my x left me in 99...After that I could no longer afford the show circuit...
My absolute best show dog ever, 12 years old, got really sick 10 weeks ago...She was 12...Totally healthy, my absolute angel...
She couldn't pull out of it...All the meds didn't do her a bit of good...She was terribly sick for 13 days...I prayed and prayed for God to help her...He didn't.
On the 13th day...I prayed a different prayer...For God to not make her suffer anymore...This prayer he answered immediatly and my Bimmer passed in an instant..
That was my year..
I still have Bimmers son..He's the perfect physical representation of his breed but I can't afford to show anymore...Maybe next year will be better for me financially and I can continue on with Bimmers legacy..
That was my year...A poor one...But I have good friends and a good American life aside from the fact that my baby is gone...There's hope...Hope that the economy will pick up and things will get back to normal...I hope that I don't have to tap back into my 401k to make up for my lack of income..:-)

It was not as good for me. For one thing, my husband had a stroke and now is pressuring us to downsize and get into an apartment in a couple of years. Now the trouble is that he will probably not live long after we are in it, and I will be stuck. I worried so much that I got a lump in my br*st and luckily it was not cancerous, I found I had diabetes, but that is what is expected as it runs in my family, and my daughter-in-law had a false pregnancy.
And because of in-laws, step inlaws, etc, I could not attend Christmas church service and I will not be able to attend New Years eve service anyway, so unless a miracle will happen, 2009 will not be that good either.

Frankly, I've had a terrible year, I'll be glad to see the back of it. I've been in and out of work, and I've not been able to settle any of my debts, which was one of my major objectives. Next year will be better, I'll make sure of that.

I think 2008 brought me some of the best moments in my entire life, but also some of the hardest. Looking back, I think I've really grown up this year, the things happened made me. I had great moments at university with friends I made there, in class and in my dorm, i'm very happy for that. But failing some exams, accepting I wasn't able to pass, though I worked hard and wanted it very badly, was very hard and confronting. But I got through, accepted it and am happy with the new path I've choosen.
The people that made me happy whenever we got together, are my friends from university choir. Rehearsals, extra performances, rehearsal weekends, spring and christmas concerts, parties, but most of all the trip we made to South-England this summer, the best moments of 2008! Singing together is so intense and wonderful :-) Although, I also had some sort of fight with a good friend of mine that trip, which caused us to ignore each other ever since, though it's getting better last few weeks. There's always the reverse of the medal I suppose :-)
The very best moment from 2008 was in South-England, after a long walk in a stunning landscape, we got to the top of the hill, with a fabulous view, and we sung 'Nunc Dimittis' (Mendelssohn), and other great pieces, it just fitted the moment and I'll remember it always.
I hope 2009 wil bring me such great events again :-)
Best wishes for the new year to all Mylotters!

hi. happy new year :)
my 2008 was a mixture of both happy and sad moments. I was placed in s/w company. But yet to receive D.O.J from the concern. so was terribly unhappy..on the delay of the call. And apart from it , i had pleasant days too that filled my year. Every one was one way or the other , a factor for my motivation and happiness. I also got a hand ful of new friends. Im not making any guess on my 2009. But i do prayers so that it is likely to be a lucky year for me and evreyone. Take care:)

Nah. Not for me. I don't have much luck in everything in 2008 and it was just bad luck which has been following me. Therefore I can't wait for this year to be finally over so that I could have a new start. To be honest, I am tired of this year already!

Hi dolce_vita78! I had a lot of heartaches, pain, trials and problems this 2008 but I could still say that God has been good to me all this time. I have survived all those tears and became a better and stronger person and I am still relying on God to bless, protect and love me and all those people I have been praying for each night this coming 2009. I believe it will be a better 2009 for God has been Good All The Time!
Just my thoughts! And here's wishing you a Blessed New year dear friend! lovelots..faith210

Happy in 2008. Let's see. My salary was cut by 1/3 or the gross income I used to make. My home mortgage rate went up by 1.5%, costing over $300 more to my mortgage, wouldn't have been a problem had not been for the salary situation on my job. So needless to say, we moved to another city, to an older townhome community.
As a result of the salary situation, could no longer swing paying for the extremely high van note, we had, so we let that go back. As we moved, we did put the home on a short sale in hopes of a buyer to prevent foreclosure, so we did get a buyer put down a contract. Still waiting to hear from mortgage company, as they have a backlog of homes being sold as a result of the economy housing market.
But as far as I'm concerned, I'm doing quite well. You see, although the circumstances that seem dim and glim around me; those things are only temporal. I have a wonderful family that loves me. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Superb Christmas. My kids received numerous gifts and you know we really didn't have to pay for any of them. A family member blessed us with a AMEX gift card, so we had a fantastic dinner sponsored by "HONEY BAKED HAM." We had pecan pie, a cheesecake sampler, homemade cookies, cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, broccoli and rice casserole, sweet potato sufflae, cranberry walnut chutney, regular cranberry sauce, and vegetable lasagna. To drink we had: coke cola, sprite, egg nog, folgers brand coffee (Roasted) and (French Vanilla) and crystal springs water.
