I have had company staying for a week now. Yesterday my son and his family joined us for a wonderful Christmas celebration! We had a ball! Played bunco and boggle..opened gifts and had a big ham dinner. My daughter and her family are leaving tomorrow. The house looks like it blew up! There are so many packages...and other things laying around that you can hardly walk through a room. But it's been wonderful! How is your house looking after the Christmas celebration?

Sounds like you just had a ball with your family. What a nice holiday. Our house is fine since we didn't entertain at all. Our kids are scattered around this holiday season so it's hard to get us all together. We spent Thanksgiving together this year and it was fun to be with all the kids and grandkids. It was at our middle daughter's house since her house is huge and the other grandkids were staying there. Her poor house looked like a disaster after they all left to go home.

Actually, I went over my sister's house on Christmas Eve. We had so much fun over there. My Granddaughter was the life of the party. She will be two in February, and what a comedian she is. By the end of the night she looked like a wild woman, haha, just playing in all the paper and throwing it around, giggling all the way. Sort of like she was playing in a bunch of fall leaves and just thought this was great fun. She is the spirit of Christmas for all of us since everyone is an adult, her presence makes us all kids again.

My kids and I were at my sisters house yesterday and her house looked great because she is very anal about the house getting messy. Every present that was opened was put away if it wasn't played with and the wrapping paper put in the garbage. My kids and I opened our presents int he morning and it was a total mess here but after wards we cleaned up. I think the mess is part of a good xmas morning lol

Christmas wasn't held at my house, but I can honestly say my parent's house looks a little worse for wear. My sister and brother-in-law stayed a few nights with my parents before Christmas Day. I don't know why, but my sister is incredibly picky about everyone cleaning up for themselves at her house, and I mean like if you move a pillow on her couch, you better put it right back where it was. So it annoys me that when she and her husband come to my parent's house, they leave their plates and half filled cups just lying around. I'm usually the one who cleans it up, but I don't say anything. It's not worth it to fight over it. lol

LOL...just doing the towels and sheets ect....and I have one more gift to put away so I am almost back to normal! LOL

Hi Jill, I will add another game to your boggle and bunco, SNAP, your description sounds just like my house right now. I have had a real lazy day today and other than walking the dog I haven't done a lot. Most itmes are still where they were when the girls left last night plus added extras as my son is now taking notice of other things he had been bought. I love it, there is always tomorrow. Huggles. Ellie :D

Oh Jill, I know how you feel, even though I still have my son here with me the girls have gone so I have had tears myself. My eldest is off to Mexico on New Years Eve Cancun I think she said, don't know where it is your sister is getting married. All exciting though eh! Bit of an anti-climax after all the hustle and bustle, I'm sorted and cleared up now too. Huggles. Ellie :D

much similar to yours, everything in disarray, as relatives are getting ready to go home. but yes, it was fun, the reunion and everything. holidays are always stormy and explosive. it gets silent as a peace zone afterwards, i hope you enjoyed your christmas jill. enjoy the rest of the holidays. cheers.

My house looks fine. As it was just my husband, myself and three kids for Christmas. We place wrapping paper in garage bag as soon as they come off the packages. But I remember days when visiting relatives when I did not live 1200 miles away from them. Christmas was a blast. The clean up was always fun to. as everyone pitched in together.

Our house actually doesn't look so bad. It definitely could look a lot worse but it's actually rather clean compared to Holidays past where the entire house is covered in nothing but wrapping paper and haphazardly placed gifts. I'm kind of glad it's not so messy because I'm usually the one that has to clean everything up.

before the presents where unwrapped they took up MOST of the living room. . but after all the toys were out of boxes the space they took up was a lot s maller. I actually moved it all around today to get up some of the needles from the tree. my mom alawys keeps on the cleaning and although i'm not TOO worried about the toys on the floor all the time since we are at her house right now i keep them tidey all the time for the most part. xmas morning the house had blown up like yours though! paper and toys and clothes and candy EVERYWHERE lol.

My house is looking ok right now. I do need to dust either today or tomorrow morning. BUT my house will look like yours after tomorrow afternoon or evening. My daughter and grandson will be here sometimes tomorrow afternoon or evening. I still have packages under my tree waiting for them to come to open. They will be staying here through the new year then will head back before school starts back up.

Your Christmas sounds so fun! That's so great to have all those packages and stuff laying around everywhere. I love that. As of this moment, the house isn't looking too bad. Our daughter and her boyfriend stayed about 4 days and just left yesterday, so it's pretty picked up now. I've just got all the dirty towels and bedding in the laundry room to be washed. So, I guess I'm in pretty good shape.

My home is small. I used to have amuch larger house on the farm but this is supposed to be my retiremetn home. We are jam packed with blow up beds etc and today we all had a good clean up. However, my DIL leaves next weekend back to Dubai and then my son from the U.K. will be here for about 3 weeks and then my daughter leaves on january 5th back to N. C. So I don't know which way I am going! Blessings.

My Christmas celebration is tomorrow Saturday 27th December. My son and his wife and their three kids are coming over. We will be having a ham dinner and some very wonderful side dishes. And of course, we will have chocolate pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie and whip cream to go along with that. We will eat first and than we will open the gifts up. I will say after all is done and my son and his family leave to go home the house will look as yours did. It will look as though the house has blown up. But what a way for the house to go. lol. I love it!

We ate Christmas dinner at my brothers house. He came in after the kids got done tearing their gifts open and looked around the room. He said, "Well, what did I bother cleaning before you guys came over for?"

It is looking so much better now since I have waded through and tackled one thing at a time.. It did look very bad at first but the last couple of days, with a little bit here and a little bit there, it is looking a lot better, a far cry from being normal but a lot better...
