My dream is to travel, but I'm not sure how. I need to start a career, and a life.
How do you guys travel? I mean, what do you do for money? How do get to travel?
I'm only 17, so I don't want to wait until I retire. lol.

Becoming a travel agent is a good way to fulfill your wanderlust on the cheap.. they often offer free or heavily discounted trips so that agents can be knowledgeable about the trips they are trying to sell.
Another option is to save enough money for a plane ticket and a bit of spending money and then look into working holiday VISA trips. I'm Canadian and we've got agreements with many countries around the world via the British commonwealth, but as an American you will quite likely have similar agreements with other countries. If you do that you are eligible to find a job and working and living in a country is a great way to see it at it's best AND worst. Plus you get some money to do more sightseeing.
Another option is that often hostels or bars in tourist hotspots look for labourers and are willing to pay under the table, or sometimes the country has an agreement worked out for casual employees to not have a Visa in that country (Greece seems to be this way). Again, all you need is money for transportation and set-up funds and you can make money to sightsee and often get accommodations completely covered by your employer. They won't be swanky, but they'll do the trick.
I just saved every penny I made to travel. My parents were great enough to let me live at home to save it and after I hit my target, I booked my plane and train tickets and took off.
It's all about priorities. If you really want to go to school right now, then do that, the world awaits. If the wanderlust is too great (like mine was) then travel now and vice versa for the school waiting.
Anything you want can be yours with hard work, patience and perseverance.

I began traveling when I was a teenager with very little money. I traveled first to nearby countries. I had a paper round at age 13 and then a Saturday job in a shop at age 16. I managed to afford to go to Greece with my mum when I was 14 and to the Netherlands with a friend when I was 17. However I really wanted to travel to more places but wondered how I could with so little money. So when I left college at age 18 I got a job as a children's nanny in Finland. I recommend working abroad for people that want to travel but have little money. The wages were high and I managed to afford to travel around Europe by train after that position ended. I got a job in a ship brokers and went on holidays to Tunisia and St Lucia. Then I bought a tiny cottage with the money my great aunt left me in her will. Sadly I was made redundant so I let out my home, got a working holiday visa for Australia and bought an airline ticket to travel around the world. I know some people that are in their career saying the will travel when they retire. They might not have the health or energy. If you begin traveling now you will have many many many years to go to all the countries you want to. Good luck.
