I know it doesn't sound like much, but something is better than nothing, right?! I'm really, really happy right now!
My daughter just called me and said that the company she works for will allow me to work with her, even though we're family! Yippee!
This is the best news I've had in two weeks. I know that doesn't sound long but it was like a million years to me. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to find anything at all.
I'm just all smiles right now and I know all my friends out there on myLot are smiling too.
Thank you for all your support. Bless you all!

I am happy to hear things are looking up for you, that's great!
A part-time job indeed is better than not job at all, and working with your daughter might be something very injoyable. You get to spend more time with her while you are at work also. I am not sure if anyone can combine that, but if you want it enough and make good agreements I am sure you will be able to make it work . Just don't take the work home and visa versa .

Yes cyberfluf, this is a fresh new start for me.
You couldn't imagine what I went through last year with my other job. This is like a dream come true, even if it is part-time.

Yes, it is great news for me and I'm quite happy starting the New Year off this way.
My daughter is just a sweetheart and we both get along wonderfully so I see no problems at all.
The nature of the job is in the Healthcare field. They sell outfits and supplies.
Thanks for responding and Have a Very Happy New Year!

Hi again maroseqf,
I will just be selling the items that they have for sale. Kind of like a Sales Associate.
The Assistant Manager might be leaving so eventually I would like to take her place if they feel I'm qualified. That would be great! I'm going to try as hard as I can to learn everything.
Take care!

Hey, this is great! In this economy, you kind of have to take what you can get, so it's nice that you got something and didn't have to wait forever.

You got it cutepenguin! I will take what I got and run with it, lol!
I still need one more part-time and I'll be all set. Right now this is a miracle to me. Went through waiting a long time a couple years ago when I was laid off...it was horrible.
Thanks again for responding and Happy New Year!

Yes, I do feel it was a blessing for me this time, completely.
I was laid off a couple of years ago for about six months. It was horrible and that's all I could think about these last two weeks. I'm very happy this came through for me.
There's a very long story that goes with this job I obtained but I figured people wouldn't want to read that much.
Anyway, Thank you again for your support.
Have a wonderful New Year! I know I will, lol!

I am very happy for you. Part time can be better. You can make more in full time, but you also pay higher taxes, so maybe you are not loosing much with part time.
Friend of mine counted that with 40 hours a week she is making only $50 more than with 24 hours, because all money are going to be taxed...
Hope new job is working for you very well,
HUGS

Hi pola!
Thank you very much.
I know what you're saying about part time but the problem is I need another part time job also to make ends meet. So, in the long run, the taxes would be the same anyway. I'm hoping eventually to get Full time but will certainly take this just so I'm working and have a job. That makes me real happy!
Thanks again and you take care. Happy New Year!

That is a very big deal. I get really excited when I hear about people who have been waiting to find jobs, and then they get one. Plus you'll be near your daughter! Thanks for sharing your good news. My mom is looking for a job right now. She has to get one with good benefits because my dad doesn't get health insurance through his work, and boy does my mom need good health insurance. So far no luck, but my dad is making ends meet for them.

Hi AmbiePam! Thank You for your kind words.
I do feel it's a big deal, especially for me. I've been down this road before when I was laid off a couple years ago, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It was horrible and I couldn't find work at all. I'm very happy right now.
I know what you mean about benefits, etc. I have none, no Health Insurance at all but I can't get into the bigger companies because of my age and education. I tried really hard too. One of the problems I had too is alot of companies pay minimum wage, hire you in at full time, you pay for your benefits. I can't afford that in the least. All my check would be gone. Kinda like caught between a rock and a hard spot. Don't know what else to do, but anyway Thank You!
Happy New Year!

Yes, it is a bonus to be working with my daughter, she's a sweetie and we get along just great.
We'll both be learning as she's only been there a couple weeks herself, so we'll learn together.

in times like this a lot of people can't find a job and when they do they jobs don't last or they become depressed with increasing work pressure
I hope a bright 2009 for you and family

Hi LittleMel, and Thank you very much.
I do realize how jobs are so scarce right now and that's why I'm just so happy that I was able to obtain one.
This company has been around for a long, long time and they deal with the Healthcare industry, so I feel pretty good about that.
I wish you and your family a bright and Happy New Year also! Thanks again and take care.

Congratulations Kashmeresmycat....what a great way to begin a New Year with knowing you have a job...And it doesn't matter how long the duration is being out of work...whether one day or one month or longer...it's never fun being out of work, so it's great you got a job so relatively soon....way to go

Hi Pye,
Thank you so much! Yes, I'm quite happy right now and what a relief to have even a little income coming in. I was really sweating this one out since I have no real savings anymore. That all went when I was laid off a couple years ago. It was horrible.
Happy New Year to you!

Wouldn't that be ideal? But, I'm happy just to be working right now and don't want to wish for too much, then I'll jinx myself, haha. You know, kinda like when you say your cars running really good, then all of a sudden the next thing you know, it doesn't start for you. I'm thankful for what I have right now.
Thanks so much for responding to this discussion. Happy New Year!

Thank you very much tabaci, I really appreciate it.
Yes, it is precious cash to me right now as I am the only one paying the bills and rent. It's very hard and I'm lucky to find this, especially after the Holidays.
Let's hope for a very Happy New Year for everyone this time in 2009!

Hi Elicbxn!
Yes, I'm really happy, can you tell?, lol! Alot of people would probably look at this as "big deal" but to me it is. The economy is so bad and there are NO options for me. Especially at my age, I actually just lucked out for once.
You have a really great New Year! I hope it's better for everyone this time around!...take care.
