In the Philippines, New year's Eve is celebrated with lots of noise. yes noise. people will have a lot of firecrackers and fireworks which is believed to scare away evil spirits and bad luck. Those who cant have those, will just have some stuff that they can use to create noise like a horn, or anything. We do these before the clock strikes 12 , and will make it even more noisier when it reaches to 12 am of the 1st of january, after that, families will gather and have Media Noche, everybody will eat . on the tables are 12 pieces of fruits of different kinds which signifies the 12 months of the year , which elders believe will help each family to have a prosperous life the whole year. aside from fruits, there will be lechon (roasted pig), lots of sweets, different meat and chicken dishes, pancit (lo mein ) for long life, and desserts.
How about you, how do you celebrate the New year/New year's eve?
