Favorite type of comedies?

Laughter is good for the soul. So what kind of movie do you watch when you want to laugh?
There are so many different types of comedies - romantic comedies, physical/slapstick comedies, satire/parodies, family comedies, and what I have labeled "frat boy" comedy which basically just means anything that relies heavily on crude "bathroom" humor and personal injury ("guy movies") - that everyone can find something that makes them laugh.
For me it's probably the slapstick style of comedy. My favorite comedy movies are Dazed and Confused, the Police Academy franchise, Mel Brooks' movies (which actually fall under satire/parody), PCU ("frat boy" comedy, literally and figuratively), Tommy Boy, The Goonies (which actually could go into it's own category of 80's comedies). The less thought I have to put into laughing, the better.

I don't care too much for slapstick. I lean more toward family and romantic comedies. But there are some spoofs that I'm very fond of. Hudson Hawk is one of my family's favorites. Oscar. I'm not a Stallone fan, so it's kind of fun to see everything going wrong for him. Definitely Mel Brooks. That man is a genius! There's a hilarious chick flick, The Sweetest Thing. It is definitely frat boy humor, for girls. (It's bad! Not for kids!) I think The Ref is a good comedy, plus an interesting Christmas movie. Has a lot of swearing though.

Bruce Willis has such as dry, sarcastic sense of humor, just my kind of thing. hehe
Oscar was hilarious. "Stop calling me 'Boss'" "Okay, Boss"
And The Ref was good too. Dennis Leary and Kevin Spacey before they both got huge.

Definitely any comedy with Jim Carrey in it! Ace Ventura I,II; Dumb and Dumber; Liar; etc. I don't know in what category of comedy that would fit in.

LOL Jim Carrey probably gets his own category. Most of his movies are very heavily physical but even without it he's pretty funny. Like in the Liar, Liar blooper reel, when Swoosie Kurtz calls him an overactor and he can't do anything but laugh at her. How true is that?!

I would say I lean more towards romantic comedies than anything else. I'm not big on slapstick humor, although once in a while I will indulge. I prefer witty dialogue over funny antics, and add a romance angle, and I will be might pleased.
So romantic comedies that had Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, etc, are the type in pick up when I feel like watching something light and funny. I like to get lost in the romance plus the added benefit of breaking out into giggles while doing so.
Romantic comedies fit the bill for me, in my desire to swoon and to laugh..LOL..

For comedy, I love the animated tv shows. I rent them a lot from netflix. I especially love all of the Adult Swim (cartoon network) tv shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Family Guy, Futurama, Moral Orel, Venture Bros, Robot Chicken, and others. They are out on dvd now and there are also sites that have them to watch online. Great stuff. I'm not a fan of "frat boy" comedies or slapstick usually, butI did like the new Pink Panther, which was kind of slapstick.

I guess it depends on the mood I'm in but I like most all comedies. I'm a real sucker for romantic comedies, though. There are so many I've loved through the years it would take forever to list them all! Some people who are real "critics" sometimes make fun of some of the more "predictable" romantic comedies but I say, who cares? Sure, there's usually a happy ending but it's how you get there that matters!

I love watching comedy movies. I love the Pink Panther movie, tha kind of comedy. I also like drama-romantic.comedy and the kind of what Will and Grace does on their show.
One thing I don’t like when it comes to comedy is when it’s a spy movie. I would love it to be really serious when it’s a spy movie. Hehehe..

Hi there. I've been quite into spoofs/parodies lately. Nothing can get me laughing like a good spoof, especially one I can relate to.

I love romantic comedy. It's funny and inspiring at the same time. I like Adam Sandler and Ryan Reynolds when it comes to comedy. Steve Carell is good too! My personal favorite in romantic comedy films are Just Friends, 50 First Dates, My Best Friend's Girl and the rest i forgot to mention.
