Do you think Michael Owen would be a replacement for Robbie Keane?

Prior to Robbie Keane two goals against Bolton and a goal against Arsenal in the last two games, there was rumours that Rafa had enough of Keane and is looking to offload him if he continues to misfire. Even captain Steven Gerrard is saying Keane performances is not good enough and with the absence of torres for most of the season, Keane is finding life tough at Anfield. We know he is a liverpool supporter since young and it is an honour for him to be at Anfield and so he is trying his best to get into the game. However, we heard recently that Owen is stalling on a new contract at Newcastle and he will leave for free comes end of the season and he has spoken of a possibility of returning to Anfield where chances of him winning title is very much higher than in Newcastle esp since he is no longer young. His style of play is similar to Keane and i think Rafa is keen to see him back cos in the first place, he does not want him to leave when he was the manager. I would want to see him back to his childhood club too and i believed many fans like me think the same way and it would be good for the morale of the club too but i dun know what will happen to Keane if it does happen. I dun mind keeping both of them but only 1 or none of them would be playing all the time depending on Rafa selection cos he prefers to play with only Torres upfront or at most with another striker at times. Liverpool would have an abundent of striking power if Owen does returns and Keane stays

i dont think you can compare owen and keane today as keane is far more better than owen as of today. and so i dont think owen will be a good replacement for keane. keane seems to have shown that he is not far behind torres but he needs to be backed by benitez and be given full support by the team. benitez has not much confidence in keane.
happy mylotting!!!

yes, i am a supporter of Keane too but i do not mind Owen back too. Both are great in my opinion and of course, Rafa would not allow his new 20millions buy to sit on the bench for too long

Owen?? Come on, it's crazy if you compare Keane and Owen now. Where was Owen last 2-3 years? Nowhere! Leaving Liverpool and singing for R.Madrid was dumb! Robbie Keane is a better player overall right now and he will be. Everybody has hard time adjusting to the new team. Just remember Eduardo in Arsenal. First 12 games he didn't play at all than he was Arsenal's first striker before he got injured. He is back now though.
Owen got injured and after that nothing, absolutely nothing. I would really like to see him play like before. But my opinion is that Liverpool has better strikers right now than Owen is.

i agree Owen do not have a great time in Newcastle as he spent most of his time on the bench or in sick bay. but he is still a prolific striker and would be able to finish chances which come to him with a higher success rate than most EPL striker. The only positive thing which i see in his return is boosting the morale of the club as he is a liverpool boy which the fans adore him greatly and a good pal to gerrard and carragher.

Compared to his youth and big goalscoring seasons, Owen has been virtually anonymous for the past 3yrs and so its unfair to compare him to Keane.
That being said Keane is not exactly a world class player and i was rather surprised Liverpool bought him, more-so for the amount they paid.
Maybe he just needs more time to settle in the Liverpool setup, but you would think that would take less time than players who are not used to the premiership as well as new team-mates.
Alternatively its possible that his team-mates will carry him a while until Rafa can find a long-term striker ;)

yes, his well take goal against Arsenal was fantastic and he got two more against blackburn. he just need time to gel with the team and get back his scoring touch which seems to be the case for most strikers liverpool purchased apart from Torres.
