i love to bake but since we do not have an oven in the flat where i am staying now i am looking for other options. I plan to buy an oven toaster and try baking using that. I have found a few nice recipes online but would like to ask if any of you have tried baking in an oven toaster? Is it also effective? thanks

Several companies make a combination oven/toaster oven/convection oven. I bought one about 2 years ago, and I rarely turn on the regular oven. Most things fit in perfectly well, and everything cooks faster and better than in the big oven. It's probably used more than any other applieance I've ever had. I got mine on sale in Target for about $80 USD. Surely there are similar appleances available where you live.
Good luck with it, and have a great 2009.

Kate, before you buy a toaster oven, you might want to take a look at the NuWave countertop oven. It is a little bigger than a toaster oven and costs a little more than most of them, but it can do just about everything a real oven does only faster and cleaner and healthier. Seriously, you can roast a whole frozen chicken in it in a very short time or make cookies one at a time. It doesn't heat up the kitchen and it hardly even requires any cleaning and then just to wipe it off, as nothing gets burned on.
Sunpentown makes one too which sells for well under $100 USD. Here is a picture of that one:

One of our daughters and her partner received a combination convection oven/toaster for Christmas from her mother-in-law. They seem to be very happy with it even if they would have preferred to get it, other than for Christmas that is, as our family do not give household items for birthday or Christmas presents. There are only the 2 of them and they are living in a fairly small place and so it suits them right down to the ground as it seems to do all that they want. Also it does not take up a lot of space which was the most important thing for them. They also have a slow cooker and use it a lot because of the variety of uses it has and that included cooking a roast and vegetables in it. About the only things they cannot make are things like biscuits and cakes in it which is why they are happy with the new one.
There are many different types around an some of them have one shelf while others have 2 shelves. You would, for example, be able to make a average roast or something like that in most of the ones that I have seen anyway. I am very sure that they will be available where you are because I would think that many of them are manufactured in that region.
Good luck Kate and if you actually do buy one, I am sure you will be able to cook some interesting and varied meals.

After a few times I cooked in the toaster oven I've learned that it generates much more heat than a regular oven due to it's small size and food might get too brown and cook irregularly. For experiment's sake I cooked some meatballs in the oven and toaster oven and the ones in TO got all dried up while the ones in the oven were nice and juicy
That might be insignificant, though, they all have different wattage and the food might depend on the sauce...
