Black money in Swiss banks -- Swiss Banking Association report, 2006 details bank deposits in the territory of Switzerland by nationals of following countries: Top Five: 1. India ---- $1,456 billion 2. Russia ---$ 470 billion 3. UK -------$390 billion 4. Ukraine - $100 billion 5. China -----$ 96 billion Now do the maths - India with $1456 billion or $1.4 trillion has more money in Swiss banks than rest of the world combined. Do you know that the names of the account holders could have been furnished had the Indian government asked so but since it would bring a public upheavel the government refused to ask. This is for kind information to my fellow Indians that they should be aware of this. Please share your views.

Wow!!!I mean look at us trying to earn 10$ on the net means so much of work and our country has the largest amount of black money?! Only if some of these people(names not revealed) has the courtesy spend of it for some charitable trust or NGOs...Ofcourse there is so much of black money and that shows that our economic system need to change itself and ensure proper distribution of wealth... I hope Government will take note of that.. Have a nice day!

Once this huge amount of black money comes back to India , the entire foreign debt can be repaid in 24 hours. After paying the entire foreign debt, we will have surplus amount, almost 12 times larger than the foreign debt. If this surplus amount is invested in earning interest, the amount of interest will be more than the annual budget of the Central government. So even if all the taxes are abolished, then too the Central government will be able to maintain the country very comfortably.

Yeah I agree with you but I don't think the world politics and you know which countries specially will want to see INDIA as a debt free country as it will be a threat to their power plays and as a popular add shows nowadays "We Indians know our place well enough Sir, its the world who is too slow in realizing" ! Have a nice day!

Well,India is a poor country in the sense there are more poor people here. And the basic facilities like roads for transportation, good medical provisions(one knows how the G.H. here are),resident places(more huts are seen),etc., are very poor for most of the people in India. And it serves the idea to be a poor country. If any body can visit our great politicians houses, the star hotels, rich Indians clubs, etc.,sure the ideology will be changed. No doubt there are few rich people growing more richer everyday while the poorer goes poorer.Jai Hind!

I am really shocked that our country is leading first in this category. India carries good peoples. but not good politicians. i definitely believe that all atleast 70% of those money belongs to our honorable Politicians who are struggling for our nation.. sorry, .. for their next generations of family. Unless people never realize the value of the vote power they have, India will keep on facing bad politicians in every states.. As far i know, my state has bad politicians who must be killed by encounter!

No business house will keep money idle in a swiss account, so it's apparent that all this money belongs to political clan. all the parties are equally guilty of shipponing off the public money into personal accounts. Since most mla's are involved in it, this bill will never pass the parliament. Such revelations sometimes makes me wonder whether it is worthwhile to cast my vote at all ??
