wt's the legal age for merriage in ur country?

hey, all mylot friends..first i'd like to say happy new year to everyone..
wish everyone's wish come ture!
one of my high school classmates called me yesterday she is going to get married next week..
i was a little shocked.but she is the same age like me.me, just a student, who going to graduate next year. merriage....really to far to me to think.
maybe bcz i haven't found my Mr.right?
no ,i think even if i find him, i am not so willingly to get married at such a young age..
and in our nation ,the legal age for girls to get married is 20years old,boys 22years.
but i am just reach my 22years..
i am not sure whether other nations do have the same policy on this field like China.
friends, here, is there any legal age for merriage in ur nation?

hello baby orchids, I am from the Philippines and marriageable age here is 18 both gender. But at this age, contracting parties should seek parent's consent first and afterwards file for marriage license before they could properly be married.
But for those contracting parties who are both muslim and will marry under Shari'a District Court the marriageable age for male is not below 15 and female is 15 or upon puberty but not below 12 years old...But it seldom happens here because it takes long preparation. usually they marry above 18.

by the way muslim marriage of the ages mentioned above is valid and legal if both parties would contract their marriage under muslim rites and will meet all the essential requisites. Under Art. 33 Family codeOf the Philippines and Art. 16 of the Ref. Manual of National Statistics Office.

i think 18 age is a little younth to get married.we might be mature enough in our bodys,but might not in mind.

Hi baby orchid...In this country the leagal age to be married is 18 for both boys and girls. They can be married even sooner if the parents sign a legal document. I wish it were 20 and/or 22 here.I think it would save a lot of trouble and the marriages would last longer.

the minimum legal age for marriage is 18 in my country as I know. If someone is older than 18 years old, he or she can get a driving licence and is also responsible of his or her actions in everywhere. I mean, 18 years is the treshold of adulthood in my country, but I don't think the people at the age of 18 or even 21 are not old enough to carry such responsibilities most of the time.

Yes, happy new year to you too. Here in India, the minimum legal age for marriage is 18yrs for girls and 21 years for boys. However, many families get their girls married off earlier or on completing 18yrs because they feel that girls are an unnecessary financial burden on the family’s expenditure. Most families do not like their girls to work outside and instead think a good marriage is the best for a girl.

18 years old is the legal age here in the philippines. i think it should be moved to 20 years old because i feel that 18 yrs old is too early to get married(usually they are only in second year college).

In the US, the general rule is 18. However there are laws that vary from state to state, and in most states that I am aware of, marriage can happen before that if there is parental permission on both sides, and they are above a certain age (which depends on each states laws).
Even though it is possible to marry before 18 if there is parental consent, this almost never happens. Many of my friends got married, or are getting marries around 23-27 years of age. Still there are plenty people who remain single longer than that. I only know a couple people who married at 18 or 19. I don;t know anyone who married earlier than that.

I India the legal age for women to get married is 21 years and before it was 18 years and in olden days people used to get there children to get in child marriage that mean they will get married when they are childrens itself.after those days we have developed and marriage age has also been increased.
