When you meet someone for the first time how do you greet them, do you shake their hand, say hello glad to meet you or hug them? When you see a family member or a friend that you haven't seen in along time do you hug them, shake their hand or just say how are you I haven't seen you in a long time now?
I don't hug strangers, I just say hello I am glad to meet them, and if they offer a hand I will shake it.
As for family I will hug them sometime, I am not a big hugger. I just don't care to hug all time.
When you do hug someone is it a standoffish hug or a big arm around the body hug?

If i met someone for the first time normally I used to say hello and if the offer a shake hands that time only I will do the same.. As for family and relatives as a normal gesture I used to kiss them or hug them specially to the elders...

i love hugs. i don't hug people that i don't know but i'll hug anyone who acts like they want to be hugged if i know them, family or friends. i use to have a friend that gave the best, biggest bear hugs, i loved them.

Hi chevee! Well, I honestly was never one for hugging! It made
me feel very uncomfortable to hug or be hugged. But, I have
quite a few friends who are huggers! So I got into the habit
of being hugged and hugging. And when I went to rehab that was
expected! Everyone hugged there! Even strangers hugged you and
you were expected to hug them! So if you have a phobia about
hugging don't ever go to rehab!

Hi Chevee,
It depends to whoever is introduced to me...I hug when I will be introduced to my relatives whom I just met and hubby's relatives also whom I just met!
But, if friends by partner, sister or parents, I will only extend my hand!

I don't hug anyone I have just met. As for family, it depends on the family member. I have some family members that I haven't seen in a long time and other's that I might see more often. Some I will hug and some not so much. If I do hug I am not a standoffish hugger.

It really depends on who the person is in whether I'll shake their hand or hug them. Say that I'm meeting someone who is a friend of my friend, I'll shake hands with them. Now if I were meeting someone who's helped my friend in something really good, I'll give them a hug to show my appreciation for their help. Same goes with my family members, I hug them all the time but they know a lot of people and some are really good to them so I'll hug them as a way to say thank you. It's never a standoffish hug either. When I hug someone, it's genuine or I don't give one at all.

I let the person I meet take the initiative. Hugs don't bother me, but I am not a hugger. I hugged my fiance's family when I first met them, and I've even said I love them too. I don't mind people saying that to me but I am always unsure as to whether to say it. The hug is always a body hug... a arm around the waist is just kind of too standoffish to me.

Hi Chevee,
I normally just say hi to people I just met but after I've known them for a while then I would hug them, but with my family and close friends I hug, a big hug to you my friend.

I do not hug strangers and if they hug me I give the standoffish hug back. If it's family or a close friend I'll hug them. The type of hug depends on the person. I only shake hands if someone offers their hand to me.

Shake their hand then say hello and introduce myself. Hugging someone you've just met for the first time, to me is rather rude and creepy

Hi Chevee!
I'm a hugger and thats for anyone..most people come up to me and we get into alot of discussions and afterwards i hugg them goodbye..now this is in my store and in front of it..my kids know i'm this way and remark about how open i am and friendly with strangers, but i feel after talking to someone for awhile, you get to know what they are made of and will learn if they are a touchy feely type of person..
huggs to you

hug a stranger? nah...
I'd only shake their hands and smile and say HELLO. But that's about it. I'd only hug those that i'm familiar with or friends that i'm close to. and depending on the sort of hugs. some goodbye hugs are simply standoff hugs but some (if i happen to meet an old friend whom i haven't met for long and i miss them) it'll be a BIG BIG body hug.
normally i'd give guys a standoff hug.

When I meet people for the first time, it can be a handshake or a nod their way while saying "It's so nice to meet you."
If it's for a family member or friend that I haven't seen for a while but we're still in good terms, then, of course, that calls for a hug. My hugs are always filled with warmth and I hope people do not see or feel it as standoffish.
