What makes you happy?

I've been thinking that happiness is such a temporary thing. Sometimes, chocolate makes me happy, sometimes it doesn't. And whenever chocolate makes me happy, I immediately feel a little guilty after eating the whole thing that my happiness level goes down. So my quest is to find something or someone that will make me permanently happy. What makes you happy? Do share!

I think anything that is good, beautiful, pretty, warm, those can make us feel well.Happiness is a feeling produced by ourself. So if you want, you can think about all good things. It's true that happy things will disappear in a short time, but we can hold the feeling as long as we want. It's up to our choice!

Sweets, good books, good movies, video games, music, pets, people, good company, fun with friends and many other things.... I don't think it's possible to be constantly happy because,as you have said, happiness is temporary. Nonetheless,if you find something that fits your way of thinking and your lifestyle you'll be feeling content most of the time. Being around family makes most people happy despite shortcomings and pet peeves our loved ones might have.
I'm happy when I get to do things my way and nobody gets hurt!

Hehe, thats okay, I think chocolate is everyone's guilty pleasure, mine too.
I do agree with you that happiness is something temporary. If we want it to be permanent then we have to make it a state of mind rather than a goal. But I can say that there are just some things or some people that would really make you genuinely feel happy whenever you are in their/its presence.
I can say this because I met such a person a few weeks ago. Nop, we're not in a relationship and there's nothing romantic whatsoever. We're just friends but the fact that I met him at a totally unexpected circumstance, made me feel really lucky. When I got to know him and, I really feel blessed to have met such a person and happy to the point that I would wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night with a smile. He really did bring out the best in me.
Sad that we dont have communication anymore. Something came up on his end that our communication got cut off(he's just in this country on vacation), and a few days before Christmas at that. Im still thankful that I met him and who knows? We might meet again someday, right?

There are several things that make me happy my favorite foods,my favorite games and my hobbies but I think the thing that makes me happiest succeeding at a task that I put a lot of effort into.I am especially happy about those tasks that one,I have my doubts about and two that are especially challenging initially. In addition,I also like succeeding about tasks that I would never have thought of doing in a lifetime

A lot of things make me happy. Chocolates, cakes, a good game of chess, basketabll, or computer game...etc. The happiness feels temporary indeed but there is always something permanent in it - meomories. I do feel a bit down after I finished doing something that makes me feel happy, but I'll try to remember the great moments I had doing it and I'd feel fine.
As for something more concrete than memories, I believe in people to be the only true source of permanent happiness. Being cared about, being not alone, I'd always feel happy about it. I'm glad I have people who care about me and are willing to be with me physically or spiritually all the time. Relationships with people, are unmatched happiness.

I am happy when I see beautiful things: Nature, beautiful people. Watching Ellen TV show also makes me happy and makes me forgot problems. I love animals most specially dogs and cats and they make me happy too. But what really makes me happy is to be with the people I love specially during the holidays.

Nothing makes me happier than hanging out with my friends. I have two sisters that don't have much for friends since they've devoted all their time to their boyfriends. I am happy to say I have many friends, and I love them all :) Therefor, hanging out with them are the best times of my life :)

Happiness is something that can easily be found in the eyes of someone you love. If you have family, then turn to them for happiness. I turn to my husband and kids when I want something that makes me happy.
Some other factors that make me happy involve writing (i'm a full time freelance writer), anything to do with music, making web pages, reading and don't forget those video games. I am a big video game fanatic and enjoy playing video games with my husband. The latest favorite is World of Warcraft.
Hope this helped, if not, then I see tons of other posts with suggestions for your happiness. :-)

The list is endless---but I guess some things that will always make my happy would be- my 06month old daughter laughing, rain on a hot summer day, the smell of mud when the first drops of rain fall on it, being on top of a mountain with the clouds passing right through you...it still brings a smile to my face

Many moment that can make me happy, like watching romantic movie or funny film. Someone send you a present. Get a new job, someone that you like, say i love you (i always want to hear that). I even fell happy, when i eat a delicious meal :). Practically we can feel happy anytime, always thinking of positive mind, and the good thing will follow. It would wonderful if everyone want to share they happiness and not just kept for themself.

simple things make me happy : hanging out with friends, watching movies, sleeping, eating, hanging out with my family, sunset & sunrise, good food and all those simple things. as they say, happiness is not just a emotion but also a choice, we can always choose to be happy coz there are so many reasons to be, we just need to be appreciative on the things around us. :P

I read about many people. I talk to many people. I meet many people. I also look at myself and the way my own life goes on. When I begin thinking of happiness I get lost for answers. I find that everybody is seeking to get happiness in his or her own way. I also find that some people just do not think about happiness. They are busy with their work and struggles. They have no time, rather desire to think about happiness. Many of such people will repent the way they lived their life at the end period of their life. Many people would not think about what went by even then. Are you in search of happiness? Is happiness important to you? Do not give a straight answer that yes, happiness is important to you. Before saying yes, think - how many times at night you reflect about what made you happy and what did not? Most of us do not analyze.
We all think that happiness is important to us, but only few of us give time and thoughts to be happy. I feel that happiness is getting ignored for many reasons. The daily living leaves no time for thinking about happiness. Thinking needs time. We all are becoming less of thinkers and more of chore performers. When you begin reaching the end of your life, what do you want to fell about how it went by? If you want that when you look back at the age of 70 or 80 and say that you knew your priorities and lived a happy life then you better work on that now.
That brings us to the question- what gives happiness and what takes it away.
Can we generalize this for all of us? Or the answer will be different for each one? I believe that it is a mixture ;)

I think everyone is different when it comes to personally happiness. I am usually happy when I am working because I am providing for my family, and getting one step closer to my goal (retiring with enough money to get away with murder! Sorry, I just love that line from Kingpin). But, there are other things that make me happy, like a nice meal with my beautiful wife, and children. There are many things that make me happy, but you have to want to be happy.

always very small and temporary things make me happy, drinking coffee, eating chinese vegetarian food like noodles, singing favorite song, cooking for family all these things make me happy. sleeping for long hours too some times makes me happy. going out in the rain and drinking warm tea when it is very cold outside, all these petty things make me very very happy.

There are lots of things that give me a temporary happiness. sports I like. or getting or giving gifts. Snowboarding, wakeboarding, lots of things like that. but i do know an everlasting happiness. I am a Christian, I have a personal relationship with God. It may sound silly but its true. When i read my bible and pray to God, not only about things that i need help for or i am thankful for. but i pray to God about just everyday things. I am always happy because i have a purpose to life. I have something to look forward too. I will one day live with God in heaven. and having a relationship with God fills the missing hole that i have in my heart. I dont know how to explain it. but it is the only true happiness. Happiness that lasts.

hi, it is a nice question. I dont get happy with materialistic things. to tell you very precisely I get happier when I see some one very happy and I am the happiest if I am the cause for someone's happiness. Ofcourse yes, my success also brings me happiness. I also become when I get something for my parents. In short , I become happy only when I see and make others happy. cheers!!!!!!!!!
