Happy New Year, everyone! Since we believe that round fruits can really bring money to the household, I am preparing them. Pizza, maybe... Spaghetti, chicken, fruit salad or ice cream... I don't know if we are going to add more dishes, but basically, that's what we always prepare yearly. What about you? What special dishes are you going to prepare on New Year's Eve?

We won't be celebrating the News years as my husband is sick and most likely still won't feel to well in a few days. He hasn't felt like eating much so I will probaly just fix something that the kids will like, their favorite is spaghetti. Have a happy new year.

I'll be making something called frontier chowder. It's a concoction my brother and his family came up with by combining different varities of campbells soup and a few other ingredients in a crock pot/ slow cooker. We'll also have ham and a few side dishes. The past few years, New Years Eve has been movie night for a few close friends. We'll watch DVDs, have some eats and relax while the rest of the world parties away the last few hours of the year.

Superstitions? I've always thought they were stupid. However, things have gotten so bad this year that I'm willing to try almost anything. For that reason, I'm going to have all the traditional foods that are supposed to bring good luck in the New Year. That means black-eyed peas, which are an old southern tradition in the US, and 12 grapes, which are a Cuban tradition. My husband's from Havana, so I'll happily borrow his tradition. I'm originally from New England, and the tradition is a Lobster Thermidor or Lobster Stew. I don't know if I can afford it, but I could always get a canned lobster bisque to fill in. Anything I can do to get out of this horrible slump and make 2009 a better year than 2008, I'll gladly do, and just about all the traditions I know of are in the form of food.

I'm not sure what to make as hubby is working and he is picking up SIL & her family on his way home from work so they won't arrive well after dinner time. In my hubby's family they traditionally have taco's & other finger foods but wit pretty much being me and the kids til past their bed time I'm not sure.

all growing up, my family always spent new year's eve with my parents friends. they were dutch. it was their tradition to have a treat called olie bollen. it's basically a mini apple fritter. when it's cooled you dip them in icing sugar before eating them. ever since i moved out on my own, i now prepare "olie bollen" every new year's eve for my husband and son and we munch on these as we watch movies until midnight.

uhh... nothing really special, since we (my sister-in-law and i) haven't decided where to spend our new year's eve yet. we're both in singapore while our families (especially my husband) are all in the philippines.
but i was thinking of preparing maja blanca. it's a filipino dessert made of coconut milk, evaporated milk and corn starch.

Well!!!!,I'm not in category of people who prepare food.My mom says,I born to eat only, not to prepare. But you created some interest in me to prepare something, really!!!I think, Food will be more TASTY and SPICY, if there are our own efforts to make it and it's applicable to any work, isn't it??If I decide to make something , then I'll make fastfoods of different categories of chicken and if possible CAKE.etc........
