is'nt television an absolute waste of time?

I seriously think that viewing television is a total and absolute waste of time. I hate it when mykids get glued to the tv watching silly programms like hanna montana, and harry potter, and GOD-knows_what-else.
where as they should have been studing or reading. Do you think i am being accentric, or nasty, or too harsh on them?

You are not too harsh just that there should be programmes they should be allowed to watch. Television is good, there are programmes that are educative, informative and that can develop the children's brains. So schedule the programmes they should watch and the time not to deprive them from watching at all.
I love to watch tv but not always.

Television is one of the biggest time wasters there is and it is destroying society. The earlier you get the kids away from TV the more they will appreciate the things they should be appreciating like nature and the world around them and outside the living room.

it is entertainment like anythng else, reading a book if it is not for learning something is the same, it is entertainment, being on the internet, playing games whatever it is just the way people like to unwind and enjoy and there is also many educational things on tv they could watch too, discovery channel etc.

I do believe that the telly is a waste of time; unless there is a war going on and you need to know the news. I have no telly; when I had one, we used to waste a lot of time in front of it, watching 10 minute commercials for a 15 minute soap. :)

I don't agree with you in the tv you can learn a lot and enjoy yourself by watching movies.
I think if you don't watch the television your notliving this is my opinion. ^^^^^ lol

too much tv is definately waste of time i encourage my kids to play outdoors games or board games which they happily do cause i play with them tv is treated like a treat cause i think all the prog just teach violence,foul language and how not to respect elders ...

I think it has some value but needs to be monitored with kids - some could spend all day watching it. I believe in setting a limit to it. Reading would be better of course.

No,the television isn`t a waste of time!It`s the same as saying the internet is a waste of time.I agree most of the programs can be called a waste of time but if we think serious most of the TV shows are fun and our lives would be nothing without fun,right?We would be bored,nervous and who knows what else...So the television and internet are important and are not waste of time!
