Here is a news link. A lady died from a about 2cm diameter mushroom being stuck into air pipe. The news is in very details and informative guidance are there as to what should be done by others in case of a person found choked with food item and not get recovered himself or herself.

That is tragic.
Just like yo' momma told you chew your food and don't speak with your mouth full.
You can perform the Hemlich on yourself by balling your fist and grabbing it with your other hand and thrusting up on your diaphragm. Best look it up and figure out where your diaphragm is before you need it though. It is too late to go to the library when you are choking on that piece of mushroom.
