have you ever saw a discussion, disagreed with the original poster and voice out our point of view only to have your ratings get deducted?
well, i did. i can't pinpoint that for sure, but i'm sure that it might be one of the reasons my ratings dipped.
anyhow, have you ever had the same case?
in such cases, would you still respond to a discussion if you disagreed? Then what is the point of a discussion? Everybody is entitled to voice their opinion no?

So far I have not come across such cases, but if I am encountered with such situation, I will do the same, as I believe on the site all are invited to participate on equal basis. But I would avoid sensible topics, to prevent misunderstanding due to lack of knowledge or difference in culture, on my side or on the other.
To my understanding, we should welcome views from different people, different background, and different orientation. Time will make judgement, and on many issues, there are no answer as to which is correct. We are supposed to build up our wisdom to keep peaceful, balanced and harmoneous. So, keep enjoying mylotting in spite of the dipping.

This sort of thing has happened to several of us here. It is hard to say that it is a coincidence because it happened after an opposite view was posted in response to a particular person or group of people.
This sort of behaviour occurs in all sites where members have a chance to rate a posting. We have to live with it.
MyLot is a discussion site where we are supposed to be free to air our opinions, or clarify certain misunderstood points. In my opinion these people are not prepared for an exchange of views. They want others to agree to whatever they say and become vindictive id we present a different view.
Now I avoid discussions started by certain people even when the information they have is completely wrong. There are other discussions we can be involved in.
all the best,
rosdimy

Erm...how do you know who was the member who gave you a negative rating and which discussion or comment it was based on. If I find that my comments was of no value, then I would feel that other members have to rights to rate me down. If it was purely a case of discontent then I wouldn't be bothered about how the person rated my comments. Maybe your comments indirectly offended someone else reading the comment and in turn he/she gave you a negative rating. There is minimum control over such situation. Cheers and Happy MyLotting...
