Dogs are living beings. They are intitled to have allergies. I had a cat that had an epileptic scissure due to an allergy and from that time on she had problems.

I know how you feel. My lab had a really bad reaction one day to something and his hair started to fall out on his nose and around his eyes, and his lips got really inflamed, and his nost started to chap and he got really really irritated. We took him to the vet and it turned out that he was having food allergies. They attitude was from having really bad headaches. We found out that he had an allergic reaction to the dog food we had just changed to. Un knowing to us we changed from a dog food that main ingrediant was beef to one that was chicken. And he was allergic to the chicken!!! imagine that!!!

My kids have a dog who was literally allergic to fleas. She didn't just scratch and get bothered. She was really allergic. As soon as she got bitten she would break out in this terrible red, patchy rash all over her skin, visible mostly on her stomach. Then she would scratch and bite that till it bled. We had to give her Prednisone to fix that.
Fortunately that is just about when the internally taken medicine for fleas came onto the market so she didn't suffer many years with that. Now the meds that are applied by drops on the neck work really well for her. She is now 13 and rather arthritic but still very much active and affectionate.
